The story is all about a cat named Gori and his companions, F.R.A.N.K and CH1-P, who are trying to defeat an organization called the Adorable Army. The name is a misnomer since those in command throw all sorts of horrors into Gori’s path. With persistence, skill, and a bit of luck, players might be able to make it through while scoring sky-high scores. The Pros
A Stylish Experience
One of the first things that players notice when playing the game for the first time is how bright and colorful the world within the game is. The levels are filled with neon lights, glow-in-the-dark fixtures, and flashy enemies. Even some of Gori’s outfits, both free and paid DLC, glow in the dark. This gives Gori: Cuddle Carnage a certain style that’s reminiscent of nighttime in Cyberpunk 2077. Although, this game is certainly more cartoony than what happens on the streets of Night City.
Beyond the colors, the other aspects of each level design just add to the fun that this game offers. Every level is a unique adventure within the story itself with grotesque mutated and energetic music that gets the blood pumping. Speaking of blood, there’s a setting that lets players turn the classic red color to a more lighthearted one as it’s knocked and sliced out of enemies.
An Adventure Full of Humor
Not only is Gori: Cuddly Carnage great to look at, but the humor within the game is also a joy to listen to. However, if some players don’t enjoy a persistent string of swears, this game may not be for them. From the sassy hoverboard companion F.R.A.N.K to the intros that come along with every new villain, the humor is almost non-stop. The tone of the jokes could be considered similar to some of the jokes found within the Borderlands series.
Action-Packed Goodness
Getting down to the combat and the movement, this game just feels good to play. Gori gets around on F.R.A.N.K with ease as he jumps, slides, and boosts his way through the levels. For prospective players who enjoy skateboarding games, this might just be a new game they should pick up. As for the combat, the high-paced, brutal, and colorful nature of it all fits the tone of the game perfectly.
This is especially because the abilities that players unlock throughout the game can be upgraded to truly make them feel like a force of nature. Hoverboard blades, a big hammer, a rocket launcher, and more can be used to take down foes and get closer to defeating the Adorable Army.
The Cons
While the game is a proper fun time, it doesn’t come without its faults. Some players, even those with high-end PCs will experience frame drops at certain points of the game. A few bugs are also present, which may cause issues when Gori is being attacked by a horde of mutated unicorn toys. One of those bugs causes the player to be stuck in place in certain areas, which can truly bring them right out of the flow of the game. To give the team behind Angry Demon Studio credit, they are actively replying to players who experience these issues.

Gori: Cuddly Carnage lives up to its name in full. It’s fast-paced, colorful, witty, and all-around a good time. Think of a far more adult version of Ratchet & Clank, and add some extra speed and blood. That’s what this game feels like to play, especially since Ratchet also had a fun little hoverboard to play around with. Angry Demon Studio was able to make an exciting indie game that players can complete in one sitting or multiple if they choose to challenge themselves with harder settings. The game is truly a great time. For those who want to experience it, the game is out on PC, PS4 and 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and S, and Nintendo Switch.
