When playing Animal Crossing, you may have purchased a pack of cards with different characters’ names on them. These are called amiibos. There are a variety of these cards you can purchase; however, I have found that when I bought two packs of them, they were duplicates! Others may have had different luck.
I have several amiibos but a few from the Sanrio Collaboration pack were all duplicates. Those were Etoile, Chai, Marty, Chelsea, Toby, and Rilla. The regular amiibo pack for Animal Crossing was a better selection in some ways. In that pack, I opened Celeste, Reneigh, Rio, Audie, Marlo, Quinn, Tom Nook, Sherb, Megan, Dom, Judy, and Cephalobot. Except for two, Tom Nook and Celeste, I was unfamiliar with the rest of the amiibos, but they’re great additions to the game! Here’s what I learned from using a couple of the best Animal Crossing amiibos.
Celeste Amiibo
The Celeste amiibo is pretty cool. Celeste comes every once in a while to visit your island and watch for stars in the sky. She will tell you when shooting stars will fall, when to expect a meteor shower, and give you recipes for constellation wands and other space-themed items. When you wish upon a falling star, you will find a star fragment on the beach the very next day. The more wishes you make the more star fragments you’ll earn!
Celeste is actually the sister of museum curator, Blathers. There is a special DIY recipe that Celeste will give you after you encounter her. This special recipe is for a magic wand you can use to change clothes instead of going to a mirror. This wand is made of three small star fragments and one big star fragment. These will be scattered around the island the morning after Celeste’s visit.
Celeste debuted in Animal Crossing: Wild World for the Nintendo DS and then the Wii game Animal Crossing: City Folk. When Celeste appeared in Wild World, she looked much the same as she does now, just more pixelated. She is red with a pink and white checkered pattern on her belly. She also has a huge, pink, floppy bow on the back of her head. While she visits your island on her own, she will sit and have coffee with you at the café in the museum when you scan her amiibo.
Isabelle Amiibo

I have an Isabelle amiibo statue, and she does not do anything else other than visit with you in the museum’s café and sip coffee, which is fairly disappointing. I tried inviting her to the camp and it would not let me do so. The figurine is used for Super Smash Bros. as well, but the Animal Crossing usage was a letdown.
However, if you want to talk to Isabelle, while she is in her office, you can discuss several topics with her. Those topics are your island evaluations, reviews of your island features, and discussions about a resident. Your island evaluations are where you get a star rating. Your star rating is important! It shows how much other people want to be on your island.
Reviewing your island features involves changing the island tune, the island flag, or discussing ordinances. You can choose to be in ordinances—for a small fee of 20,000 bells. Isabelle will explain to you that putting an ordinance in requires a lot of paperwork. That’s paperwork I have avoided so my island says “There are no ordinances in place right now.” Whenever you choose and if you have the bells, you are free to do that at any point during the game.
Conclusion
There may not be many things you can do with amiibos, but you can sit with them at the Roost’s Café and have coffee with them. You can talk to them as you would a friend who has come to visit. Amiibos are built-in friends in this game! You can plan a photo shoot with them at Photopia at Harv’s Island, and plan a vacation home for them if you have the DLC of Happy Home Paradise.
While amiibos may not have much you can do with them, they are still fun to play with because you get to talk to different animal characters. Having a variety of animals to talk to can be quite amusing. Each character has its own set of sayings.
Visits last as long as you want them to. You are in total control of how long or short you want a visit to last whether it be Isabelle or any other character of your choosing. Just know that once you leave the café area, you will be sending them home. They do not follow you out of the café. So even though you can’t do much with the amiibos, you can still have fun talking to them at the café and getting to know them.
