It seems like finding cross-platform games specifically with PS5 and PC are becoming harder and harder to find. Although games like It Takes Two and Stardew Valley are high on the list amongst well-known co-op games, it’s not everyone’s cup of tea. There’s nothing better than logging onto Steam or turning on your PS5 console and being able to play with a group of friends.
However, it’s a shame that more developers are not putting out the ability to play co-op with other consoles and systems. Although we may never know the answer other than perhaps the obvious, why aren’t more games cross-platform for more gamers to enjoy?
5. Wildmender
Unlike Overcooked, this farming adventure game brings you closer together and has feelings of serenity attached to it. Alone or in co-op mode, explore the empty and unforgiving desert all while growing your garden back at your home. Not only this, deep mysteries are rooted in a civilization that no longer exists and it’s up to you and your teammates to craft, build, and discover the story behind it all.
4. Borderlands 3
As many would agree, Borderlands 3 is one of the best of the Borderlands series; with its questionable one-liners, fun character classes, and indulgent gameplay. In addition to this, the graphics and color profile of the game make it stand out that much more. Enjoying this game with your friends and playing through the entirety of the storyline makes it overall worthwhile and deserves a place in the top 5.
3. No Man’s Sky
Released in 2016, No Man’s Sky wasn’t the game we thought it would be from Hello Games and has led to mixed reviews. Since then, they have released lots of free updates to add features the studio had promised but failed to deliver at first. One of these updates was cross-play, so now you can explore the universe with your friends. While it’s an older game, it has a massive amount of planets to discover so there is no end to the content!
2. Helldivers 2
The recent controversy regarding Helldivers 2 is warranted, but aside from the trickery of PSN accounts it’s overall a great game. One thing is for sure, this third person shooter game is fast-paced and full of action. As a special task force assigned to keep the galaxy’s dangers at bay, you’ll battle your way through a myriad of challenges. When you’re not laser-focused on staying alive, stop and smell the flowers as the worlds are stunning.
1. Ghost of Tsushima: DIRECTOR’S CUT
In an exciting turn of events, Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut will be the first one of the series to be available on PC. Though a PSN account is required to play co-op in Legend’s Mode, the scenery alone is worth it. As the wind of a war amongst the Mongol empire begins to pick up, a lone samurai stands in their way. Although your clan has been wiped out, you are there to seek vengeance and protect your remaining people.
Take back what’s rightfully yours when this cross-platform game is available May 16th, 2024.
It’s hard to argue with the fact that playing with friends or strangers is one of the best ways to enjoy a game, which makes these cross-platform games so special. From Wildmender to Ghost of Tsushima and everything in between, there’s only one wish for social gamers and that is to make more co-op opportunities available between consoles.
