Dragon Quest Remakes announced in the latest Nintendo Direct

Get ready folks, “Dragon Quest 1 & 2 HD Remake” has officially been announced in the 2025 “Nintendo Direct”. The official release date is to be announced so in the mean time, why not go over five of the best and strongest weapons in both Dragon Quest 1 & 2 getting players prepped for the HD remakes.

The In-Game Dragon Quest Weapons

Dragon Quest 1 and 2 come with an array of different weapons to choose from. From low-tier weapons all the way to weapons some would consider S-class or legendary.  For instance, a couple of weapons you can come across in Dragon Quest 1 are the Bamboo Stick, Hand Axe, and Flame Sword. In Dragon Quest 2 you can come across weapons like the Chain Sickle, Lightning Staff, and Aurora Blade. But today, we’re here to get you prepped with all the weapon knowledge you need before you head into battle.

Best Dragon Quest Weapons To Have For The Remake

Now, when it comes to weapons in Dragon Quest, there are a few key factors you want to take into account. For instance, Dragon Quest 1 only has melee weapons for the whole game, and there are only seven at that, so you’ll only be focusing on the attack stat. Now, with the remake coming, we may or may not get any additional weapons, but I wouldn’t get your hopes up, folks. So, that being said

  • Copper Sword: This has an attack power of (+10), dealing damage to enemies and killing most weak foes like “slimes” in one hit.
  • Hand Axe: This reliable weapon has an attack power of (+15), taking out any mid-level threat in 2-3 strikes.
  • Broad Sword: This sword is exactly what the sword claims to be- broad with an attack power of (+20), making the last weapons you pick up along the way seem worthless.
  • Flame Sword: This Flame Sword is just that, a sword of flames. Dealing explosive damage to enemies with the possibility of leaving a burn effect, this sword has an attack power of (+28), setting fire to all of your enemies.
  • Erdrick’s Sword: The strongest blade in all of the Dragon Quest game. This sword is what some would deem as legendary with a whopping attack power of (+40) and happens to be the only weapon in the game that can not be purchased with gold in game.

Best Dragon Quest 2 Weapons To Have For The Remake

When playing Dragon Quest 2 this is when we start to see a rise in more then just melee weapons. This game introduces magic staffs which come in handy for select enemies weak to certain elements but that is not always the case when it comes to raw attack power.

  • Erdricks Sword: Still as strong as it was in the first installment with an attack power of (+40) which can also be found in (Charlock Castle) in “Alefgard”.
  • Dragonsbane: The name speaks for itself. This one-of-a-kind weapon has an attack power of (+50) and can be found in three stores in the game. These locations are “Dirkandor”, “Wellgarth”, and “Beran”.
  • Aurora Blade: This blade has the essence of a strong warrior waiting to be wielded by the right hands. This sword has an attack power of (+65). This sword can be purchased at a weapons shop in “Burrowell”.
  • Thunderbolt Blade: This weapon has a massive attack power of (+80) and can be found in the “Cave to Rendarak.”
  • Sword Of Ruin: The most glorious of weapons throughout Dragon Quest 2 to make the term legendary weapon really stand out compared to other blades. This sword has an astounding attack power at (+93), making endgame more possible than you could have imagined. This sword may be obtained through a drop rate after killing one of 2 creatures for a specific amount of time. Those creatures were “Gigantes” and “Green Dragons”.
