In 2006, Pokemon: Lucario and the Mystery of Mew debuted the Fighting Steel Pokemon, Lucario. Then, two years later, he joined the Smash Bros. Roster as Fighter #41 in Super Smash Bros. Brawl for the Nintendo Wii. Fast forward to 2014, when Super Smash Bros. for Wii U & 3DS introduced the concept of scanning interactable figurines called amiibo.
Lucario’s amiibo would launch exclusively in Toys R Us stores in February 2015 for Smash Bros. amiibo wave 3, making him a rare find during its prime. Congratulations to the lucky collectors who have him displayed on their shelves. So what are the best amiibo-compatible games you should scan Lucario on?
Become Lucario’s Buddy Pokken Tournament DX
Pokken Tournament is the second amiibo-compatible game you can use Lucario on. Pokken Tournament also had the strangest rewards for scanning any Pokemon amiibo. I expected a cool costume for the Poke Fighters or a special combo input you could learn from them that isn’t in the game.
Instead, the trainers get rewarded with random costumes, a random lucky title, or poke dollars, er, poke gold. Scanning Lucario will give you the lucky title, Lucario’s Buddy. Poke gold amounts vary from 100-100,000 PG.
This is an okay attempt on rewarding the players for collecting the amiibos in the Pokemon lineup. It’s very lackluster but it is a game that Lucario can be used on.
Lucario Summons Horde in Diablo III: Eternal Collection
If it’s your first time playing Diablo III, the Switch remaster has added an amiibo feature. For any amiibo outside of the series, you can scan them once a day to summon a Champion Monster horde.
This is perfect for beginner and veteran players who want to gain easy experience points. After you finish the tutorial in New Tristam, head towards the Slaughter Calf Inn. Outside, a chest waits for you to open as your Stash menu. Store the amiibo portal and head in front of the town gate.
Now, take out the portal from the inventory. Once it’s placed in front of your avatar, scan Lucario. This summons a Champion Monster horde you can fight. If you are under-leveled, stay in front of a town gate for the town guards to help you battle. You will still gain experience points if you participate in protecting the town.
Lucario Helps you Gamble Monster Hunter Rise
In Monster Hunter Rise, the merchants will offer the Lottery option for the player to gamble with Lottery Tickets. The game comes with amiibo support with the release of Rise’s amiibo lineup in 2021. Any amiibo you have on hand can be scanned once a day for the amiibo lottery.
Head to the nearest merchant in the village hub and access the Store options. Select the amiibo Lottery option to be instructed on where to scan your Lucario amiibo. After scanning, the lottery bank will spin for a random prize. These vary from great to rare items you can use for crafting or on the battlefield.
I wished Capcom and Nintendo cooperated on the idea that Smash Bros. or Pokemon amiibos would give special armor for your Palicos, Palamute, and avatar. Or maybe a special character to fight against. A Lucario fighting against your arsenal would be epic in Monster Hunter’s large 3D space.
If you don’t want to wait a day to use your amiibo again, follow this guide by Under-Leveled above. He will teach you about fast-forwarding your clock on your Nintendo Switch.
Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition / Age of Calamity
Hyrule Warriors returns on the Switch with The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild‘s prequel, Age of Calamity, and its Definitive Edition combining the Wii U and 3DS games in one cartridge. Hyrule Warriors have their amiibo lineup that offers special items and weapons.
The same can be said for previous and later Zelda figures. Take Toon Link for example. If you scan his amiibo from Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS or his Wind Waker, you will obtain weaponry from Wind Waker, Phantom Hourglass, and Spirit Tracks.
With non-Zelda amiibo, you get special weapons and crafting materials when you scan up 5 amiibos. The difference between Age of Calamity and Definitive Edition is the bonus of earning a random amount of Rupees. The amount varies from 1-50,000 Rupees that can be used in the in-game shop.
Train Your Lucario Amiibo in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
Back in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS, scanning any Fighter amiibo will let you train it in various fighting styles. The selected amiibo will join as an FP player in Free-for-All or Team Battles. As you fight against them, they will gradually learn and adapt a fighting style of their own to play against yours.
Unlike normal Lucario, who is based on speed and medium damage, he can learn to become a heavy hitter if your fighting style has lots of defense play. The amiibo Fighter’s stats will be based on three fighting types:
Bruiser: Judges the fighter based on their charged attack usage and aggressive behavior.
Speedster: Determines how fast the fighter can block and react to the player’s attack input.
Defender: How the fighter observes your moves while evading, fleeing, and blocking before making their next move.
These stats will increase over time the longer you play with your Fighter amiibo. They will start at level 1 and progress towards level 50. You will know when your Lucario learns something when you see the “Level Up!” icon above their heads during battle.
With Smash Bros. Ultimate, you can watch Amiibos fight online if the hosting player sets the Amiibo option on “Allow.” You can also do this with local play. Imagine how cool your Lucario would be at Smash Tourney parties fighting everyone else’s amiibos.
