Whilst it is too early to tell, there have been some reports that Rockstar Game’s famed Western, the original game that was released all the way back in 2010 may finally be coming to PCs. Red Dead Redemption 2 is a modern masterpiece. A title that is synonymous with quality, depth and a level of detail that is virtually unmatched even today, almost six years after its release.
However, not many would know that Red Dead Redemption 2 would not be a reality if not for the game that preceded it. A game that is as if not better than its successor. Red Dead Redemption (2010). Then released only on consoles. Now this game may finally be coming PCs.

For those who don’t know, before the release of Red Dead Redemption 2 in 2018, and going back a bit further, prior to the release of Rockstar North’s GTA V (the game that needs no introduction), Rockstar San Diego put together what was arguably the greatest Western game: Red Dead Redemption. A game that married solid third-person shooter mechanics with a believable lived world of America’s Midwest, with a captivating story led by a great protagonist.
Pretty much the most critical thing that modern players associate as good or great with Red Dead Redemption 2 (2018), the first game in the series did it. And some would argue, leaving aside certain technical and resource limitations, that the first game probably did it better. To take nothing away from the second game: Red Dead Redemption 2 is one of the greatest games ever.
But the fact remains, that not many players were able to experience the first game. Either because they weren’t around or old enough (18+ kids!) or they were waiting for the PC version to come out. But it never did Until, probably now.
What would Red Dead Redemption 1 mean on PC?

First, let us welcome the good news. For those who never got a chance to play the game on previous gen consoles: the PS3 and Xbox 360, or for those who didn’t get a chance to grab the game when it was released on Nintendo Switch this might be the news you have been waiting for. A top-quality game ready to play on what is now arguably the most user-friendly platform: the PC.
In terms of gameplay and graphics, this would give PC enthusiasts to play it on the latest most powerful hardware. To see how the almost decade-and-a-half-old game fares on modern PCs. Or it could simply mean those who never got a chance in the first place, are now able to do so in the comfort of their homes.
And this is arguably the most important factor. Red Dead Redemption (2010) is a great. Groundbreaking for its time. And now for players to be able to enjoy the classic Western RPG on PCs is going to be a dream come true. So big thanks to Rockstar Games when (if) this comes to pass soon.
