Dragon Age: Dreadwolf Officially Has a Shiny New Name

There’s been a change to the much-anticipated fantasy RPG, Dragon: Age Dreadwolf. It’s the fourth mainline entry into the series and first entered development all the way back in 2015. As fans of one of the most popular fantasy game series of all time were counting down the days for more news, BioWare provided just that. However, the news involved a big change to the future game as well as an official date for when we will be able to see some new footage.

Introducing Dragon Age: The Veilguard

It’s official! Dragon Age: Dreadwolf has been renamed to Dragon Age: The Veilguard. BioWare recently made the announcement on X as well as a blog on its official website. The developers gave the reason for this change, stating they wanted the title to be more focused on the protagonists instead of the forces that threaten Thedas. The general manager of BioWare, Gary McKay, explained that the new title also shows just how strongly the team feels about the cast of heroes in the game.

The cast of this fantasy RPG  includes seven unique characters who will fight by your side using their own skills. Each of them will have compelling storylines that you will discover along with the main plot and other side quests to be found in your playthrough. Your decisions will impact their lives as well as your relationship with them, so when the time comes to make those hard decisions, choose carefully while journeying through Thedas. You never know what blunder may force someone to leave your party forever.

More Reveals to Come

Of course, the news from The Veilguard doesn’t stop at the name change. We now know the date of when we will finally be seeing more. On Tuesday, June 11, we will get to see over 15 minutes of gameplay from the beginning of the game. Considering we’ve only gotten small glimpses of the story through short trailers, this is huge. It also might make one think that the knowledge of the official release date is just around the corner. We’ll just have to wait and see if Tuesday will be the day where we learn just that.

You can catch this event on the official Dragon Age YouTube channel. It will go live at 8:00 AM Pacific Time, which is 11:00 AM ET and 3:00 PM UTC. Gary McKay recommends you join the chat early and hinted at some surprises awaiting for those that do. We’ll be watching that announcement closely as well as the abundance of big events happening this weekend. You can catch us paying close attention to Summer Game Fest and other big broadcasts like the Xbox Showcase. It’s sure to be an exciting time.
