Super Mario Bros. Wonder Needs a Sequel

Super Mario Bros. Wonder gives the classic Mario gameplay that everyone loves with its own addition to the transformation in the form of Wonder Flowers. You find Mario and their friends in the Flower Kingdom. Unfortunately, Bowser follows, attacks, kidnaps Princess Toadstool, and begins a new wave of terror through the power of the Wonder Seeds. You have to help Mario and others through six distinctive realms around Petal Isles, all to stop Bowser, save Princess Toadstool, and retrieve the mighty Wonder Seeds. It’s an excellent game in need of a true sequel.

Super Mario Bros. was a platform game back in 1985 developed by none other than Nintendo. For those who didn’t know, that wasn’t Mario and Luigi’s debut. Mario was first seen fighting it out in the arcade game Mario Bros and the original Donkey Kong. After testing out his story in the United States, he made the change from arcades to Nintendo in early 1986.

His first game has gone on to sell over 50 million units over the globe and hasn’t shown any sign of stopping. Mario’s world is always colorful, with a simplistic style of challenges over his foes; Mario’s heroism and continual encounters with evil make for a game we love.

Since Mario’s first appearance, the franchise has developed over 200 games of various genres and different subseries. He has taken the battle to Donkey Kong, emulated Alice in Wonderland by eating Mega and Mini mushrooms, moonlighted as a doctor prescribing pills and as a carpenter, became a professional kart driver who flies, and even joined the army.

Super Mario Bros. Wonder can’t end here

Now, in Super Mario Bros. Wonder, Mario is introduced to the powers of the Wonder Flower, which have bizarre effects on everything around him and his companions. They make pipes come alive, waves of enemies appear, and radically change our heroes, giving them amazing abilities. It’s this game’s gimmick, and it’s amazing.

Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, Princess Daisy, Toads, Toadette, and Nibbit (along with four Yoshis) take you through this 2D game with all the famous villains that seem to keep coming: Goombas, Piranha Plants, and more. You still have the same magic of warp pipes and old power-ups alongside new ones. You can now transform into an elephant. Once you pachyderm it up, you can capture enemies with bubbles from your trunk or carry water in it. You can also find a different mushroom giving you a drill hat.

In this land of Wonder, you can also equip badges throughout the game that help Mario in so many different ways depending on the challenges he faces. When you play, you will also be able to play multiplayer locally with up to twelve players in a room, with a limit of four players per system in a level. We will soon have Mario and Luigi Brothership and Super Mario Party Jamboree, but there isn’t any word that Super Mario Bros. Wonder will have a sequel. With its success, it’s no wonder it should get another follow-up, and we should enjoy what Mario must do to take on Bowser next.

Super Mario Bros. Wonder is a must for gamers who like the art style, secondary in-depth challenging levels, badge system, and a new co-op mode. Those are reasons it deserves the 2023 Best Family Game award it won. It also doesn’t hurt to see Mario, Luigi, Peach, and friends transform into elephants, a fun and silly feature. This can’t be the end, it deserves a sequel.
