Worlds 2025: Top Esports’ Delivery Was Amiss
Top Esports managed to qualify for the Worlds Bracket Stage. They beat a struggling Bilibili Gaming, G2 Esports, and 100 Thieves to reach that point. Their weaknesses were exposed against KT Rolster and GenG Esports. The wins against BLG and G2 again gave fans some hope, but T1 crushed those in near-record time in the Worlds Semi-finals. TES made it further than any LPL team, but there is little to celebrate.
Worlds 2025: Top Esports Player Review
369
Total Apex rating – 6.1 (tied 8th among top laners, tied 35th among players)
Champions Played
- Ambessa (3)
- K’Sante (3)
- Rumble (3)
- Aatrox (2)
- Sion (2)
- Gnar
- Mordekaiser
Probably the only member on the TES roster who could be happy with his performance. He was consistent throughout the tournament, even in their losses. He became the nightmare of G2, with dominant Aatrox performances in both series. He was the only one holding the ship together in the final game against T1. He gave his team a chance to recover. However, his team was too far behind.
Kanavi
Total Apex rating – 5.3 (tied 13th among junglers, tied 61st among players)
Champions Played
- Qiyana (4)
- Trundle (4)
- Jarvan IV (2)
- Wukong (2)
- Naafiri
- Pantheon
- Xin Zhao
- Zed
Kanavi is touted as one of the best mechanical junglers coming into Worlds. He has the potential to carry his team to victory. However, he crumbled on multiple occasions at the tournament. He failed to show up against the three LCK teams he played against. In the final game against T1, he had a significant lead on Qiyana. He had to be the one to carry his team. He failed in multiple fights and took extra kills instead of giving them to his team. One has to question if Kanavi can handle pressure.
Creme
Total Apex rating – 5.4 (tied 14th among mid laners, tied 55th among players)
Champions Played
- Ryze (3)
- Akali (2)
- Aurora (2)
- Azir (2)
- Orianna (2)
- Annie
- Hwei
- Smolder
- Viktor
- Yone
Creme had a middling performance at Worlds this year. In their wins, he was stable. But when it came to the losses, he was nonexistent. He had little to no impact on the games. He got outplayed by Chovy on numerous occasions in the GenG series. He tried the counter pick Akali against Faker’s Orianna. T1 denied him value, unlike how G2 dealt with Creme. For the rest of the series, he was not the pivotal cause for their loss, but he did not help.
JackeyLove
Total Apex rating – 5.0 (tied 14th among bot laners, tied 71st among players)
Champions Played
- Corki (3)
- Yunara (3)
- Sivir (2)
- Varus (2)
- Xayah (2)
- Draven
- Ezreal
- Kai’Sa
- Lucian
There are a few players who simultaneously feed and carry at the same time. JackeyLove is one of them. He had polarising performances in the games at Worlds. He would go from carrying one fight to throwing in the next. His rating is a perfect representation of his gameplay. Many blame him for his performance against T1 in game two. However, there is little he can do against a dive composition with little peel potential.
Hang
Total Apex rating – 4.5 (16th among supports, 83rd among players)
Champions Played
- Karma (3)
- Leona (3)
- Braum (2)
- Neeko (2)
- Rakan (2)
- Alistar
- Nami
- Nautilus
- Poppy
Hang had a disastrous tournament. He was a key part of TES’ downfall. The amount of failed plays and his being caught out of position prevented TES from succeeding. In the first game against KT, he needed to be on point with his engagements. He never combined well with Kanavi in any fight, and TES crumbled. When he felt less pressure, he came alive, especially against 100T. However, those performances at Worlds were rare.
Top Esports Team Review
Top Esports made it further than any LPL team at Worlds. But that achievement in and of itself is not impressive. They defeated struggling BLG and two Western teams to qualify for the Worlds Bracket Stage. They then beat G2 again. However, the shocking display against T1 showed why there is little to celebrate. TES never pushed T1 once in the series, while Anyone’s Legend were moments away from making history. TES may have broken their quarterfinals curse, but more needs to be done in 2026.
