Monterey Jack (2026): A Gouda Horror Mascot Survival Game That Will Make You Cheddar
Now and then, a game concept comes along that’s so bizarre and out of left field that you can’t help but do a double-take. For example, Monterey Jack, an upcoming mascot horror game from DangerousBob Studio, is built around a killer Cheese Man. The premise is an absurd yet horrifying premise about being pursued by a giant, sentient cheese monstrosity.
Monterey Jack’s Cheesy Horror Mascot

At its core, Monterey Jack is a first-person survival horror game that drops you into the most unsettling dairy production facility imaginable. You’re trapped, your best friend is gone, and the titular “Cheese Man” is hunting you to shred you a new one. This isn’t just some guy in a cheesy costume; this is a hulking, terrifying monster made of pure, unadulterated Monterey Jack cheddar cheese.
The developers at DangerousBob Studio stirred the mixing pot and created a colorful, cartoony survival horror with skin-crawling tension. The game is set to launch on February 9, 2026, for Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. For all those fromage enthusiasts, there’s a demo available right now on Steam.
Mechanics in The Cheese

The Cheese Man hunts you in real-time, which means you have to be constantly aware of your surroundings. The game features a noise meter (yay!), so every step you take or object you knock over could be the last thing you ever do. Keep an eye out for his cheesy footprints, a clever and slightly gross way to track his movements. It’s a tense cat-and-mouse game, if the cat were a giant block of cheese with a vendetta against the mouse.
Willy Wonka just traded in his chocolate river for a fondue fountain of doom. The setting in Monterey Jack is a massive cheese factory, practically a labyrinth of industrial machinery, dimly lit corridors, and (why not) a cheese river. You’ll travel along a river of cheese to explore different parts of the factory. Please don’t fall into it because I don’t think there’s a tube that will suck you out if you do
The Big Cheese Has Charcuterie Cubes

Every horror mascot killer needs to have a few minions at his disposal. The factory is crawling with “cheese zombies,” grotesque, cheese-born creatures that you’ll have to fight off to survive. Monterey Jack features a detailed hitbox system, meaning you have to be strategic in hitting certain spots on your enemies. Attacking those weak points can stagger them and deal maximum damage. Throughout the factory is an arsenal of makeshift weapons – slingshots, nail guns, and kitchen knives.
Final Thoughts: Get Some Chips and Crackers Ready, Folks!
Monterey Jack promises to be an intense chase throughout a deeply atmospheric environment. It offers multiple endings for those story players, and a survival mode to see how long you can go against Jack. The absurdity of a killer cheese mascot as a horror game is apparent; however, weird concept-centered games can surprise you with the right approach. When Monterey Jack comes out on Feb. 9, 2026, push away your doubts and explore the cheese factory to see what all the hype is about.
