Mondstadt character buffs

Mondstadt Character Buff Thanks to the Magic of Friendship

At long last, a Buff to several of Genshin’s Mondstadt characters has arrived.  Thanks to the direct intervention of the Hexenzirkel in the events of Nod Krai, Hoyo has decided to update several early characters.  One can only hope that this is a trend that will continue into Liyue and Inazuma.  Below is an overview of the Buffs, not including changes to constellations.

Venti: The Wind’s Triumphant Return

The Hexenrei Buff turns our favorite lazy god into a Main DPS.  First of all, while his Burst, the Vortex of Death, is active, he gains Anemo Infused Normal Attacks which pierce through enemies.  Second, when he hits enemies while his Burst is active, its duration is increased.  He can increase it by a total of 2 seconds.  Not “amazing” but still provides a few extra ticks of damage.

Thirdly, while his Burst is active (I’m sensing a trend), after the active character triggers a Swirl reaction (so, it would have to be an Anemo character), said character’s DMG is increased by 50% and the vortex deals 135% of its original DMG.  Basically, now instead of switching to Venti, using his Burst, then switching back out again, you are rewarded for staying on him and firing away.

One final change they made to Venti, which is not part of his Hexenrei Buff, is that they changed how his Burst targets.  Instead of spawning at a fixed distance from him, it will not spawn on top of the nearest enemy.  Makes aiming it much easier.

Durin: Burning Passion

Durin’s Buff is rather simple.  After all, he’s a 6.2 character, so they didn’t really have to fix him so much as just give him a little extra so he could feel included.  All his Buff does is increase the effects of his 1st Passive by 75%.  So that 35% RES shred instead of 20% and 70% Bonus DMG instead of 40%.

Albedo: Chalk Prince Rebuilt

Out of all the Hexenrei characters, Albedo probably got the biggest glow-up.  Now, when he uses his Skill, it will also spawn a second, shadowy, flower (Silver Isotoma). This flower doesn’t seem to be affected by enemy hit boxes, which means that it will persist even if the original flower (Solar Isotoma) gets destroyed.  In that scenario, the shadowy flower will function in place of the original, so you don’t have to worry about losing damage because the big, scary boss broke Albedo’s fragile creation.

Furthermore, when a Solar Isotoma (original flower) is created (no present, CREATED), nearby party members will gain increased Normal Attack, Charged Attack, Plunging Attack, Elemental Skill, and Elemental Burst DMG based on Albedo’s DEF.  The maximum amount of DMG increase is 12%, which means you need 3000 DEF for the full effect.

In addition to this buff, Hexenrei characters will gain an additional increase to the above types of damage whenever a Silver Isotoma is generated.  The Buff is also based on Albedo’s DEF, stacks with the aforementioned one, and requires the same amount of DEF to maximize.  That said, it increases the damage by 30%, instead of 12% so it’s considerably stronger.  This means Hexenrei, Albedo included, characters will gain a 42% DMG bonus.  Now that’s more like it.

Mona: From Apprentice to Master

Like with Venti, Mona’s the Hexenrei Buff turns her into a main DPS.  When it is active, her Normal and Charged Attacks will both increase the duration of her Omen and give her a stack of Astral Glow of Mercury.  When a party member triggers a Vaporize reaction, all stacks of AGoM are consumed to increase the damage of the reaction by 5% per stack (3 stacks max, so up to a 15% bonus).

The amount of time she can increase her Omen’s duration is 8 seconds, meaning she can potentially have 13 seconds of 60% Bonus DMG.  Guess fate has decided to keep her On-Field.

Klee: She’s Even Scarier

Since her numbers were already so high, most of Klee’s Buff most just fix a few quality-of-life issues.  Now, while her Burst is active, her Normal Attack sequence will not be interrupted.  So, if she moves after, say, her 2nd attack in the chain, instead of having to start over, she’ll instead continue on to her 3rd attack.

Additionally, after dealing damage with her Normal Attack, Elemental Skill, or Elemental Burst, she will gain 1 Boom Badge.  Each type of attack only grants 1 Badge, so you need to use all 3 to get max badges.  Each badge causes her special Charged Attack (Boom-Boom Strike) to deal more damage. Specifically, 115%/130%/150% of its original damage.

Sucrose: Mondstadt’s Little Breeze

I understand that Sucrose is a 4-Star and thus can’t be too broken, but, honestly, her Buff seems rather…disappointing.  Creating a Small Wind Spirit (Skill) increases the party’s Normal Attack, Charged Attack, Plunging Attack, Elemental Skill, and Elemental Burst DMG by 5.71428% for 15 seconds, and creating a Large Wind Spirit (Burst) increases the aforementioned DMG by 7.14285% for 20 seconds.  While both effects seem to stack, for a grand total of 12.85713% Bonus DMG, it still seems rather dull in comparison to some of the other Hexenrei Buffs.

Razor: A Frenzy of Claws and Thunder

Razor’s Buff increases the DMG of The Wolf Within by an additional 70% of his ATK. Additionally, while his Burst is active, if the Electro Sigils from his Skill overflow, a bolt of lightning will strike nearby enemies, dealing AoE damage and restoring 7 Energy to Razor.  Basically, this Buff gives him a bit more damage and helps fix his Energy issues.

Fischl: Bird’s Eye View of Devastation

While Oz is on the field, the party members will gain Buffs based on which Elemental Reactions are triggered.  If an Overload reaction occurs, the party will have their ATK increased by 22.5% for 10 seconds.  If Electro-Charged or Lunar-Charged are triggered, the party will gain 90 EM for 10 seconds.  Superconduct, Hyperbloom, Electro-Swirl, and Electro-Crystallize get no love, sorry.
