Dead Island 3 Is Officially In the Works and Expected to Release the First Half of 2028
It’s official, Dead Island 3 is now in the works, with all hands on deck at Dambuster Studios. After the high success of Dead Island 2, the green light was given to start production of Dead Island 3 with an expected release in 2028. Not entirely surprising, given the cliffhanger ending of the main storyline to Dead Island 2. Here’s all we know about the production of Dead Island 3 so far.
All Hands on Deck For Dead Island 3
According to X user @bogorad222, a financial report written by Dambuster Studios announced that the UK-based developer company is now primarily focused on the development and production of Dead Island 3. Other than Dambuster Studios teasing the sequel earlier this year, this is the first official mention of the game ever.
The report mentions that all 194 developers and employees at Dambuster Studios are primarily focusing on the development and production of the game, and once the Luna and Mac versions of Dead Island 2 are complete, all of Dambuster’s QA team will also move over to Dead Island 3.
Expected Release in First Half of Q1 in 028
According to the financial report,
“the current predicted release window” of Q1/2 2028. So, as things stand, Dead Island 3 is due out by the end of June 2028.”
In September, Dambuster Studios released an image with the caption, “and the next outbreak is already brewing,” which definitely pointed to another installment in the series. This image also lets us assume that the next installment will take place somewhere other than Hell-A; however, I am curious to see how the story will continue on a different island, given how the last game ended.
The series has had a difficult development process, with Dead Island 2 releasing 14 years after the last game; however, this time, it looks as if we don’t have to wait that long. Yes, we still have to wait a couple of more years, but hopefully, the development of Dead Island 3 will be a lot smoother than the last.
