AdHoc Studios Dispatch hits success with Critical Role

Dispatch Season 2 in Demand by Critical Role CEO, Fans

Dispatch fans, including Critical Role CEO Travis Willingham, want AdHoc Studio to make a second season for the superhero workplace comedy as soon as possible. AdHoc is currently working on a game based on Critical Role’s world of Exandria. Some of the voices in Critical Role – Travis Willingham, Alanah Pearce and Laura Bailey – lent their voices to the superhero characters in the game. The debut adventure game from Telltale Games’ veterans was one of 2025’s sleeper hits.

Willingham spoke at a GalaxyCon convention where he gave props to Dispatch and AdHoc. Willingham said, “Just like everybody else, we want to see Season 2 stuff as quickly as possible. So, there’s a conversation around can we do both, how do we prioritize that stuff, and then also having new conversations with other partners.”

For Season 1, the game initially included a K-pop-inspired superhero named Winter, but that character was cut during development. AdHoc director Nick Herman and AdHoc’s lead writer Pierre Shorette joked that they might add Winter to Dispatch’s Season 2 content. “If there is a Season 2!” Shorette added.

What is Dispatch?

Dispatch was released by AdHoc Studio on October 22, 2025 for PC and PS5. The game will be ported to the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 on January 28, 2026. The game runs on Unreal Engine 4 and is currently nominated for Game of the Year and Outstanding Story-RIch Game at the Steam Awards 2025. The game lost to gacha-style RPG Wuthering Waves in the Players’ Voice category, and it lost to Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 for Best Debut Independent Game at the 2025 Game Awards.

In the game, players take the role of Robert Robertson, voiced by Aaron Paul. Robert takes a job as a superhero dispatcher because his crime-fighting mech suit became broken beyond his ability to repair it. The cast of superheroes include Invisigal, Blonde Blazer, Prism and Waterboy.
