Fortune’s Favor: Renegades’ Least Impressive But Most Impactful Destiny 2 Exotic

When Bungie announced the new Renegades exotics, Hunter mains felt slighted. Their new Exotic, Fortune’s Favor, granted them an overshield. While having the overshield, they gained some benefits. On paper, the Exotic was not exciting and was likely going to be forgotten. How wrong all of us were, as Fortune’s Favor has become a mainstay in many Hunters’ arsenal. The damage increase is substantial. Today, we will discuss how to make use of Fortune’s Favor.

Fortune’s Favor: What Does it Do?

The Exotic perk, Kismet, reads as follows:

After landing a final blow while at full health, or when out of combat for an extended duration, your shields will slowly recharge into an overshield.

When you have an overshield, your weapons gain increased accuracy, stability, handling, and damage against combatants, and final blows will grant a short period of increased mobility once the overshield is depleted.

The damage increased granted while having an overshield is fifteen percent. Heat Weapons, on the other hand, have a twenty percent damage increase. Essentially, for having an overshield, you gain a significant increase in damage. Unlike other Hunter damage-related Exotics, Fortune’s Favor has good survivability thanks to the overshield generated out of combat. It is one of the only Hunter Exotics viable in NotSwap for both running and damage purposes.

Making Use of Fortune’s Favor

Oftentimes, in Destiny 2’s boss fights, you will take damage during them. It makes maintaining the uptime of the overshield nearly impossible without other means. Fortunately, we have a way to garner an overshield during damage. To make this work, you must have Shadowshot: Deadfall equipped on Prismatic with the Facet of Purpose Fragment. Having this combination will grant you an overshield every time you pick up an Orb of Power.

Any Orbs created during damage, either from your teammate’s Supers or other means, will work. Any weapon with Attrition Orbs will help. However, this can often be too dangerous or impossible if the boss is too far away. The best use case for Fortune’s Favor in damage is with Wolfsbane. The Exotic Sword from Ash and Iron has the Attrition Orbs Refit Catalyst. It will constantly generate Orbs while dealing damage. You do not have to run the Sword if someone else in your team has it.

The combination of Wolfsbane and Fortune’s Favor is even better in the current season. Singularity Blade allows you to apply a 15% weaken to targets while having a Void elemental buff, which includes the overshield. You can add Stylish Executioner and every Sword kill, or Melee can make you invisible.
