Total War: Warhammer 40K is a Top Wishlisted Game on Steam

Warhammer 40K reportedly has accumulated the most wishlists on Steam, out of all the games revealed during this year’s Game Awards. The latest entry in Sega and Creative Assembly’s Total War franchise is ranked 25th overall. Divinity and Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic were not on the list due to not having Steam pages when the list was aggregated. Meanwhile, Highguard, developed by ex-Titanfall devs, is placed 11th, while Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis is second, while CONTROL Resonant is third.

Hopes for Total War: Warhammer 40K

The list was created by Reddit user WhyPlaySerious, who created the list based on the Most Wishlisted Upcoming Games featured on steamdb. One Reddit user by the name of Nappehboy replied to the original post, “Total War Warhammer 40k is something the fans of Total War have been asking for for over 12+ years now. It does not surprise me people are immediately in. It looks fantastic and could very well be the best strategy game of its kind ever made if they execute it correctly.”

Total War is the long-running strategy simulation franchise, with several spin-off such as Warhammer 40K, SHOGUN: Total War, Total War: Rome and Total War: Pharaoh. Total War: Warhammer III has a Generably Favorable metascore of 86 and a Mixed or Average user score of 5.8. This is for the base game and doesn’t include the DLC expansions.

The top five most wishlisted games on Steam, according to steamdb are: Subnautica 2, Deadlock, Light No Fire, Resident Evil Requiem and Slay the Spire 2. During this year’s PCGaming show, Slay the Spire 2 was ranked PCGamer’s most anticipated PC game of the year. This data is based on Steambd’s site, but the number of wishlists is unknown because Steam doesn’t count or publicize the number of wishlists.

Joshua Robinson of TheGamer wrote that Highguard was, “rather brutally bullied following its big reveal at The Game Awards.” He continued, “Highguard is the eleventh highest wishlisted game from the show, and is currently sitting in 294th position overall. That’s not great for a free-to-play that’s most likely going to live or die on its playerbase.”
