Many films and games from the 2000s and 2010s tried to predict what the future would look like. Some knew they were being unrealistic, while others had a chance. Many ended up missing the mark, and one of those is Black Ops 2. But what if we told you that its story is no longer a possible predicted future?

Growing up, Black Ops 2 was a mainstay. It was released in 2012, titled as a futuristic shooter. Everyone who had access to a console or pc played it at some point. Or at least, that is what it felt like. Many completed the story multiple times, trying to reach different endings. Those pesky strike missions really made it difficult to achieve the “perfect” ending. We have lost count of the number of times we completed Black Ops 2, trying to get different endings.

But now, as time has passed and we enter 2026, something has changed. The story has two timelines. The first timeline takes place in the 1980s, and the second in 2025. Yes, you read that correctly, 2025. Now that we have moved to 2026, Black Ops 2’s story takes place in the past. Every time, from now on, that you play the story of Black Ops 2, you’re playing the past, figuratively speaking.

Reminders of Childhood and Teenage Years Coming to an End

Black Ops 2’s story, taking place in the past, is a shocking revelation. It is another reminder that our childhood is long gone. It does not seem like the advancements are historical. Now, of course, we have not reached the same technological advancements in our lives, but we are moving closer. Since the release of Black Ops 2, gaming and the world itself have changed dramatically.

One Aspect That We Wish Existed

Of course, we do not want to suggest having a potential war brewing, akin to that found in the game, but some of the advancements could help us today. The one that comes to mind right off the bat is the Floating City of Colossus. Having a self-sufficient city on the sea will add luxury and help with a growing world population.
