Dead by Daylight – Dustin Full Guide
With the Dead by Daylight x Stranger Things collab releasing in just a couple of weeks, fans of both the game and series are awaiting the second chapter to the Stranger Things saga in Dead by Daylight. Three new characters will be joining the roster of Killer and Survivors: Vecna, joining the Demogorgon as a new Killer, and Eleven and Dustin as two new Survivors, joining Nancy and Steve, who were released during chapter 1 of the Dead by Daylight x Stranger Things collab.
Even though Dustin is just a regular human, with no powers or psychic abilities in the show, he is still one of the more iconic characters throughout the series. As a new Survivor joining Dead by Daylight, Dustin will bring his own brand of special abilities and perks to help you escape the Fog. Here’s a full guide on how best to use Dustin and his best builds.
Dustin: Abilities and Perks
Dustin is a young genius, considered one of the smartest characters within the entire series of Stranger Things. Time and again, he has proven his ability to plan and defeat his enemies, which makes it a no-brainer that he would be a must-have character to join the other Survivors in Dead by Daylight. Like Eleven, Dustin will have three special abilities that’ll reflect the character we know from the series, while also providing support for your team during matches. Here is a list of Dustin’s special abilities:
- Bada Bada Boom gives you the ability to craft a trap that slows the Killer when vaulting a window.
- Change of Plan allows you to change a toolbox into a med kit.
- Teamwork: Full Circuit increases skill check zones and repair speed when repairing with other Survivors.
Best Builds

Bada Bada Boom Build
This build is unique because it consists of just trap perks. Bada Bada Boom shines when you pair it with perks that allow you to escape while the Killer is slowed down. Chemical Trap is an Ellen Ripley perk, and adding it to this build would give you another way to slow the Killer during loops. Alan Wake’s Champion of Light adds another layer of Hindered by blinding them as they break through a pallet. Lastly, while the Killer is blinded and slowed down, use Sprint Burst to put some distance between you and the Killer.
Change Of Plan Build
Change of Plan allows you to change a toolbox into a med kit when inside a locker, but you should use your toolbox before changing it. Pairing it with Felix Richter’s Built To Last perk will get you to refill your toolbox, so you can use it more than once.
Taking the best possible toolbox with you is pretty important for you to maximize the potential for this build, so adding high-rarity add-ons is something you’ll want to consider, as the med kit that replaces it will be the same rarity, including add-ons. For instance, the Engineer’s toolbox with Socket Swivels and a Wire Spool are good add-on for your toolbox.
Your toolbox will speed up repairs, so it is recommended to add something like Jill Valentine’s perk, Blast Mine, to trap a generator. Or you could swap it out for an exhaustion perk like Lithe or Sprint Burst. When you are done with your toolbox, you can enter the locker and change it to a med kit. At this point, you can use the med kit to heal, with Bite The Bullet, Leon Kennedy‘s special perk, to silence yourself or other players from making any noise.
Teamwork: Full Circuit Build
This build speeds up generator repairs when you work with another teammate, and you all gain a bigger skill check zone. When you add Detective Tapp’s perk, Stake Out, and Yun-Jin Lee’s perk, Fast Track, you can turn your good skill checks to great, and gain bonus progress. Prove Thyself is a Dwight Fairfield perk, which is always recommended for anyone working on repairing generators with other Survivors. With Eleven joining the cast of Survivors, you could also swap it out with her special ability, Teamwork: Soft Spoken.
