It also helped spawn the Alien Isolation game, which directly ties the two together.
The first Alien Isolation game followed Ellen Ripley’s daughter, Amanda Ripley, 15 years after the events of the first film. As Amanda, you are on a mission to find your mother who has gone missing. You have to navigate through the spaceship as you find yourself alone, while battling the overwhelming fear of the people around you and a hungry alien chasing you wherever you go. Alien Isolation perfectly encapsulates the intense horror, suspense, and action of the first film, all the things that turned the film into a cult classic.
The Alien franchise spawned many game adaptations over the years, with many of them falling flat. However, the release of Alien Isolation garnered a pretty positive reception, as it closely ties the game to the original film. The slow-burn storytelling, oppressive atmosphere, and the most horrifying game of cat-and-mouse is what made the original film so popular, and Alien Isolation not only expands on the first film, we got to see how the first film felt through an interactive horror experience.

Back in October 2024, the creative director of Alien Isolation, Al Hope, announced a sequel to the horror game. Alien Isolation is the game adaptation of the iconic sci-fi horror series by James Cameron. The first game was released in 2014 and received a generally positive reception, with a Metacritic score of 79. Now, after 12 years, Creative Assembly is releasing a sequel, and fans cannot wait.
Alien Isolation 2 is expected to release later on this year. The sequel to Alien Isolation was first announced during the 10th anniveray celebration for the first game. With the positive reception of the latest film Alien Romulus and the TV series Alien Earth, Creativ assembly is definitely taking advantage of the hype, this franchise is experiencing. The game is currently still in early development; however, many people guess that the release is coming soon.

“We’ve heard your distress calls loud and clear. Today, I am delighted to confirm, on behalf of the team, that a sequel to ALIEN: Isolation is in early development. We look forward to sharing more details with you when we’re ready.” wrote Al Hope during the game’s 10th anniversay.
“Everyone wanted to do it. I think that Disney buying Fox made it a lot more possible.” says Dion Lay while speaking on the FRVR Podcast.
Creative Assembly has yet to share any details about the Alien Isolation 2; however, since the expected release of the title is this year, we should be hearing some updates on the game within the next few months.
