Weekly Free Games on the Epic Games Store January 22 – January 29, 2026
It’s Thursday, and that means free games from the Epic Games Store! And the timing couldn’t be better. A lot of the U.S. is about to be under one kind of extreme winter weather or another. So while you’re huddled inside, drinking hot chocolate and wearing your entire wardrobe to stay warm, why not play a free game?
This week, we have an action-adventure for the PC and “a story-focused, puzzle-filled adventure game” for mobile. Keep reading for the details!
Rustler (Grand Theft Horse)

You read that right, Grand Theft Horse. Rustler is a violent top-down game that pays homage to Grand Theft Auto (GTA). You’ll play as “The Guy,” who apparently wasn’t given a name by his parents. You’re a peasant spending your days engaging in various criminal activities like stealing horses, fighting guards, and more.
Combat involves using various weapons, including the ordinary like swords and crossbows, and the absurd like “turds,” holy hand grenades, and even horses. You can follow the quests, if you want, or just go through the game creating chaos and destruction for everyone else. It’s up to you.
Note that this game is rated Mature 17+. So, viewing the game page requires entering your birthdate and this probably isn’t appropriate for small children.
Epic Games Store Mobile: The Forest Quartet

If you haven’t already installed the Epic Games Store mobile app, you’re missing out!
In The Forest Quartet, you’ll play as Nina, the spirit of the quartet’s lead singer. There are three acts, one for each of the other members of the group. It’s a story-driven puzzle adventure game for your mobile device. It’s described as being “about love, loss, and the healing power of music.” So if you’re sensitive, maybe have some tissues handy.
Through each of the three acts, you’ll have to solve puzzles and aid your friends to fight away the corruption that’s affecting their souls. You interact with the world through the power of your voice. And you move through the world by gliding, floating, and even turning into butterflies.
How to Claim Freebies From the Epic Games Store
Whether you want to play on your PC, Mac, Android, or iOS device (In the EU), you can find the download information on the Epic Games Store website. If you’re on a computer, you can download the Epic Games Launcher to access and play your games. I know that’s not exactly shocking, and you probably figured that out already.
For the mobile games, you’ll need the QR code. Use the camera on your mobile device to scan the QR code, which will direct you to the download page. You will have to enable downloads from other sources. (Other than the native app store, that is.) This app isn’t available on the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store. After installing the app, launch it, sign in, and then scroll down to find the current free game.
And that’s what we have for you this week! Check back next week, and we’ll highlight the new game offerings from the Epic Games Store. We’re staying on top of the latest gaming news, so you don’t have to worry about any FOMO.
Happy gaming!
