Capcom is Selling Overpriced Resident Evil Requiem Figures?
The release of Resident Evil Requiem is just around the corner, and Capcom is pulling out all the merch now that we are getting closer to launch. Capcom has recently revealed Grace and Leon figurines for sale worldwide; however, many fans have noticed the unusually high prices for these figurines. Here’s all you need to know about the prices of both the Resident Evil Requiem Leon and Grace figurines and how fans have reacted to them.
Resident Evil Requiem Leon and Grace Figurines

With many large game releases, developers like to come out with collectibles to celebrate the game’s launch. We’ve seen it with The Last of Us, with all the various figurines of iconic characters, and even with Resident Evil Village when they came out with the collector’s edition statues. And Capcom has just announced their collectible figurines of Leon and Grace to celebrate the upcoming launch of Resident Evil Requiem.
We aren’t getting a Resident Evil Requiem collector’s edition; however, the recent Resident Evil showcase that happened last week debuted the Leon and Grace statues as part of the celebration of the release of the game. Both statues will feature the characters’ normal outfits, with Leon holding the special Requiem revolver, and Grace holding a flashlight and a regular pistol. There is one caveat to this: The figurines are obscenely priced.
Why Are These Figurines So Pricey?
After the Requiem statues were revealed and went live on e-Capcom, it was revealed that they’re going to cost ¥28,600, which is about $180 each. For normal figurines that aren’t collector editions, that’s a pretty wild cost for figurines that don’t even feature anything special. For comparison, these are usually the prices of actual collector editions. Some have suspected that these prices are the direct effect of Trump’s tariffs.
It seems getting both of the statues, which is recommended because both the figurines can link together, was going to be more costly than any of the collector’s editions that are already out. Users on ResetEra have started a forum discussing the obscenely priced figures, with user Jawmuncher bringing up the fact that the Leon and Grace statues have recently gone up for pre-order on BigBadToyStore, where each statue costs nearly $240. Have I mentioned that each figure is sold separately?
Fans’ Reactions
Fans haven’t had the best things to say about the high price for these figurines. Many have stated that the quality of the figures doesn’t match the price at all, or that most won’t be willing to buy them because the statues are just regular figures, not part of any collector’s edition for Resident Evil Requiem. The markup from their regular price to what retailers are actually selling them for is what’s upsetting many fans. Here’s what some users wrote on ResetEra discussing the prices of the statues:
“Im not much into figure collecting… but do these pics make both models look… bad? Like, The Grace model looks….ok. sorta. if you squint. But the Leon one looks cursed. For that price, they should look way better than that.” wrote Ezroz.
“$566 is for the normies. I’m sure the rich fans will be copping Leon’s Porsche.” wrote RazorHawk.
“price and look don’t match” says nsilvias.
“Not worth that, not to me. As figures collector, the designs look very cheap. For that price I expect better looking models” wrote Shaman.
“That quality is nowhere near over $200. Even $100 is pushing it.” says SneerfulOwl.
“I’m eternally pissed we didn’t get a Claire statue, instead of Leon, with the RE2 Remake CE. So now in this “line” of comparable figures meant to be displayed together, Jill gets one, Chris gets one, Grace gets one, Leon gets THREE, and Claire gets zero. That said, this set of Grace and Leon does not look good lol, especially for the price.” wrote SirKai.
Resident Evil Requiem is set to launch on February 27 on all platforms. The hype for the game has made this one of the most anticipated games this year, and this seems like a small hiccup in the grand scheme of things. However, hopefully, Capcom has heard some of the criticism from fans and moves to lower the prices of these figurines.
