Digital Extremes’ Warframe is a free-to-play looter shooter MMO. Part of your mission in the game is to gather resources to craft powerful weapons and Warframes. Hexenon is one of those resources and is one of the hardest to obtain in large quantities. This resource is only found on one planet in the entirety of Warframe which leads to it being rather uncommon. This resource launched in Update 25 ‘The Jovian Concord,’ which brought Wisp and her weapons, the new Jupiter Gas City tileset, the Disruption game mode, and much more. This guide will help you become a pro at farming Hexenon and never run out again.
What Is Hexenon Used For?
Hexenon, as described by the wiki, is “a reagent commonly used to produce highly combustible fuel.” It is a byproduct of the gas extraction taking place on Jupiter. These refineries can be found all over Jupiter’s tileset (map). This uncommon resource’s primary use case is in crafting, although you may also feed 300 of it to your ship’s Helminth to sate its appetite. Players will need exactly 4,040 of this resource to craft every blueprint in the game that requires it. All of Wisp’s components and weapons require Hexenon to craft. Caliban Systems, Lavos Systems, and a few miscellaneous weapons also require this material to craft.
Where And How To Farm Hexenon
This gaseous material can only be obtained on Jupiter, which makes acquiring this resource more difficult than others. The easiest, albeit less efficient, way to obtain Hexenon is to deploy a Resource Extractor in the region. This device passively accumulates resources for the player to collect. Jupiter’s Disruption mission, Ganymede, is a steady way to acquire this resource. However, reward caches only grant 5-15 Hexenon each which is negligible. Hexenon drops in groups of 5-10 by default. So, these reward caches only grant the equivalent of one or two enemys’ loot- which is not worth going out of your way and farming for.
Cameria and Sinai, Jupiter, are great spots for farming this resource. These are Dark Sector missions that the Infested has taken over. Not only do the Infested spawn in higher volumes by default leading to greater resource yields, but also, Dark Sector missions have an innate resource bonus. These two missions both have a 20% added Resource Drop Chance bonus. This paired with a Resource and Resource Drop Chance Booster will exponentially increase the amount of Hexenon you receive. Bringing a loot-focused squad of Nekros, Khora, Wisp, and Speed Nova will be highly efficient. Playing on Steel Path will also boost enemy spawns and resource drop chances.
Trivia And Closing Thoughts
Hexenon is a unique resource within Warframe’s universe. It cannot be bought from the in-game market and doesn’t have a floor container like most resources in the game. Instead, the only way to acquire it is by playing the game and killing enemies. Hexenon’s name could have derived from the noble gases xenon and helium (He) which is fitting for Jupiter’s gas theme. Another theory is that the name is based on the neurotoxic ketone of hexane, 2-hexanone. This appears as a bright yellow liquid. Update 25 ‘The Jovian Concord’ was massive for Warframe, but more will come later in 2024. Two new updates, including ‘Warframe: 1999’, will be released for free.
