The format has changed in this year’s Rocket League World Championships, from September 10th-13th, which is the first Swiss stage. A 16-team group stage where the teams will play a series of best-of-5 matches, the top 8 teams advance to the next round. Swiss Tiebreaker is for the teams finishing 3rd to 5th, 3rd place plays 4th place, and the loser of that game takes on 5th place in all best of 5 matches.

September 14th is the start of the playoff rounds as well as featuring the Swiss Tiebreaker, the playoffs are in a bracket system with the top 4 teams needing only 1 win to reach the final 4 while places 5-8 need 2 wins in the losers bracket to make it. In the playoffs, matches are played in a best-of-7 series, the championship will wrap up on September 15th with the final 6 teams playing.

G2 Stride and Team Falcons both went 3-0 in the Swiss stage giving them an automatic qualifier into the playoffs and the Upper bracket quarterfinal. Teams played between 3 to 5 matches based on how they performed, 2nd place in last year’s Rocket League World Championships Team BDS as well as a top 4 team from last year Karmine Corp made it into the playoff.

Conclusion

American team OxygenEsports has shown to be a strong contender to win the Rocket League World Championships, having placed poorly in last year’s championship, they have the opportunity to become a true dark horse team. The prize pool is $1,165,500, 1st place will get a payout of $300,000, 2nd place will get $150,000 and 3rd and 4th place will receive $99,000. 5th to 16th place get a payout ranging from $84,000 to $12,000.

Defending champions Team Vitality has already been eliminated in the 2024 Rocket League World Championships, missing out entirely on the playoffs. In Esports any given team can win and Team BDS may be the favorite at the moment but with how technical Rocket League can be someone is bound to make a mistake. The United States and France have dominated the world of Rocket League in recent years but with British and Australian players and teams on the rise, the final day of the Rocket League World Championships will be exciting.
