The massively popular action RPG Warframe has a host of mods that you can upgrade your gear with. These mods range from simply increasing the base damage of a weapon to highly specific Warframe augments. A unique set of three Warframe Exilus mods called Peculiar Mods are some of the rarest in the game. Most players are unfamiliar with their existence. Although these mods don’t increase your power, they offer fun and interesting gameplay mechanics to experiment with.
Peculiar Audience
The first of the three Peculiar Mods is called Peculiar Audience. This is the only mod within this set that is purchasable from Baro Ki’teer, a void trader who arrives every two weeks. It can be purchased unranked for 200,000 Credits and 250 Ducats. Baro Ki’teer’s stock rotates each visit, but he will always carry Peculiar Audience at the annual Tennocon Relay. Peculiar Audience’s description at max rank reads: “Killing an enemy has a 60% chance to amuse a certain Void entity. Cooldown: 20s.” This Void entity is none other than Skittergirl, a manifestation that haunts the Zariman Ten Zero. Her signature laugh will ring out once the mod’s requirements have been met.
Peculiar Bloom
Another mod within this set is Peculiar Bloom. The description of this peculiar mod reads: “Critical hits cause flowers to grow from the wounds.” Up to five flowers will spawn on a singular enemy, with each despawning after 30 seconds. With every increase in the mod’s rank, the flowers grow bigger. You can increase a mod’s rank using Fusion. This mod is purely cosmetic and will not deal damage on its own. Acquiring this mod requires access to Elite Sanctuary Onslaught, an endless game mode where players must continuously kill enemies to stay in the simulation. Peculiar Bloom has a 2.01% chance to be rewarded after completing a C Rotation.
Peculiar Growth
Peculiar Growth is acquired the same way as Peculiar Bloom is. This mod causes an enemy’s body part to expand for a short period. The description of Peculiar Growth at max rank reads: “Damaging an enemy will inflate the body part hit for 6s.” This effect only applies if the hit is non-critical. Although Peculiar Mods are primarily cosmetic only, this mod can prove useful if an enemy’s head is inflated. This theoretically makes headshots easier to land. This inflation effect is innate to the (Kuva) Nukor secondary weapon. Each rank of this mod increases the amount of time a body part is expanded by one second.
Level Up With Peculiar Mods
Much like Riven Mods, only one Peculiar Mod can be equipped onto a Warframe at a time. If a teammate is affected by Radiation, the mod’s effect will be dealt to them as well, leading to some funny team moments. For a while, Peculiar Mods were not tradeable between players. Luckily, this was fixed in Hotfixes post-release. Peculiar Mods currently range from 20-30 Platinum each when trading with other players. Peculiar Mods are hidden wonders within Warframe and are criminally underused by the community. In a world where the meta is king, allow yourself to have some fun with these Peculiar Mods.
