Halo Infinite Update Will Add Intriguing 3rd-Person Mode

Halo Infinite Third Person Mode

Fortnite first tested an FPS option, and now there’s a new Halo Infinite update. One of the best FPS games in the industry is getting a third-person mode from 343 Industries, the game’s developer that will from now on be called Halo Studios.

As announced on a Twitter post by the company, the third-person mode will be coming to Halo Infinite this November. Surprisingly, gamers don’t seem to be so happy about this new addition to the game, as seen in the comments of the X post. But since there are still a lot of players who find this feature intriguing, Halo Infinite has no choice but to proceed with the new mode update.

Halo Infinite Update: Third-Person Mode

The third-person mode of Halo Infinite is a lot like Fortnite in a zoomed-out style. The Third Person mode for the Halo Infinite update features a slightly offset cam rather than the more classic “over the shoulder” style popularized by games like Gears of War. The 343 Industries’ Twitter post reads:

The accompanying video for the Halo Infinite update shows exactly what you’d expect: Halo multiplayer but in the third person. Apart from that, there isn’t a more in-depth post explaining how the camera will work or be restricted in the game yet. However, part of the video certainly makes it look like players will be able to freely toggle between first and third-person while playing.

Unknown Details

What players don’t know is whether the Third Person mode would be available for all the modes or only for a hand-picked few in the Halo Infinite update. Whether the developer plans to have modes specifically employing the third-person cam and if the third-person option will be available to use in Halo Infinite‘s oft-forgotten campaign remains a mystery.

Player Reactions

Surprisingly, the comments on X are negative. “Fortnite-ification of Halo,” “trend chasing,” “I’m never playing again,” are a few replies that are quite harsh. It seems the third-person mode for Halo Infinite is already not received with open arms and happy faces. Some gamers enjoy flipping camera perspectives, just for fun or for a better view, in games that allow it. What’s even more shocking is that this isn’t entirely new, as Halo Infinite has incorporated a third-person view with heavy weapons for 17 years now. The demand is quite high now as well. Furthermore, a modder added a third-person camera to Halo Infinite’s campaign over two years ago.

Conclusion

Some of the earliest footage of Halo: Combat Evolved showed a third-person shooter that looked quite different from the FPS that eventually came out, so one could say it’s a return to the series’ deepest Macintosh roots. While the third-person option for the Halo Infinite update suits some gamers perfectly, others aren’t satisfied with the feature; therefore, 343 Industries and Halo Infinite are definitely in a rough spot after the deep layoffs. However, the Third-Person mode is seemingly a fun addition to the update.
