Echoes of Wisdom Automatons: All 6 Creatures

Echoes of Wisdom automatons

The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom automatons are among the most useful aspects of the game, right up there with the titular echoes. The difference is, the game is feasibly playable without them. They are tied to a side quest, meaning the main story can be progressed all the way through without using an automaton. That’s a decidedly more boring way to play, though.

There are six possible automatons, but they’re not easy to get. Each one is similar to an echo in that it’s new and fun to use. The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom has done a great job of bringing in fun twists to the gameplay, and automatons are a perfect example. Here’s how to get them all.

All Echoes of Wisdom Automatons

There are six automatons in Echoes of Wisdom, all of which are tied to a side quest. You may recall from the trailers that Dampe, the famed grave keeper from Ocarina of Time, is back and he’s creating devices for Princess Zelda to use. However, it’s not as simple as just visiting him and buying them. To get them, you must start the Automaton Engineer Dampe quest.

Once you get to a certain stage in it, you can unlock the following Echoes of Wisdom automatons:

  • Techtite Automaton
  • Tocktorok Automaton
  • Gizmol Automaton
  • High-Teku Baba Automaton
  • Roboblin Automaton
  • Goldfinch Automaton

How to Get Each Automaton

Unlike echoes, automatons have to be handcrafted. Unfortunately, part of the quest is Princess Zelda providing the creative inspiration for these creations. Dampe has the brilliance to bring them to life, but he suffers from a creative block and it’s up to Zelda to provide the fuel. For all six, Dampe will vaguely describe a monster or item from Hyrule, and when you present the right one, he marks it down.

All of the Echoes of Wisdom automatons have two inspirations:

  • Tektike Echo + Mothula Echo = Techtite Automaton
  • Octorok Echo + Firework Echo = Tocktorok Automaton
  • Zol Echo + Prismatic Music Box = Gizmol Automaton
  • Level 2 Deku Baba Echo + Steel Trap = High-Teku Baba
  • Sword Moblin Echo + Heirloom Katana = Roboblin Automaton
  • Crow Echo + Golden Fan = Goldfinch Automaton

Unfortunately, these must be done in order. When Dampe asks for an echo, Princess Zelda needs to present that one. Say you have the Octorok and Firework Echo, but you don’t have the Mothula. Sadly, you’re out of luck until you find the Mothula. Fortunately, the first few echoes and items aren’t that difficult to find. Keep in mind that automatons can break, but Dampe can repair them for a cost.

In Conclusion

Every single Zelda game pushes the envelope forward and does something new for both gaming and the franchise as a whole. With the new Echoes of Wisdom automatons, the developers have done just that once again. This mechanic is virtually new to the franchise. There have been devices before, but not like this, and they weren’t created with your help for the most part. It’s another revolutionary spin in what’s shaping up to be one of the best games of 2024.
