In a recent announcement, Call of Duty referenced a years-old Reddit thread that claimed Murray’s on-field performance statistically suffered on weekends when the game offered double XP (experience points). This sparked debate among fans, with some defending Murray’s right to his hobbies and others worrying about potential distractions.
The Call of Duty announcement playfully acknowledges this controversy, showcasing Murray’s dedication to gaming alongside his NFL career.
“To think that I can accomplish everything that I’ve accomplished in my career and not be a student of the game and not have that passion and not take this seriously, it’s almost…it’s disrespectful and it’s almost a joke,” Murray said in 2022. “I’m flattered. I’m honestly flattered that y’all think that, at my size, I can go out there and not prepare for the game and not take it seriously.”

But on Monday, Kyler Murray pulled off the ultimate troll when he posted on social media that he was partnering with Call of Duty ahead of the franchise’s new game, Black Ops 6, which is coming later this month on October 25. In the Twitter post, Kyler Murray shouts out a big thank you “to the trolls who memed [him] into a bag” and explains that he is “officially launching [his] Call of Duty partnership”.

“I don’t know who or why they made me the face of all the Call of Duty jokes,” said Kyler Murray regarding the Kyler Murray Call of Duty partnership. He goes on to say, “But actually, I appreciate it because we just partnered with each other.”
From his response, he seems excited and sees the Call of Duty partnership as a comeback to the memes, criticisms, and jokes in the past, about his passion for Call of Duty and video games in general. In that same video, Kyler Murray stated that he grew up playing Call of Duty and that collaborating with the video game franchise would have been a dream come true for his younger self.
