Thankmas 2024 Raises Over $3 Million For Mental Health Charities

Thankmas 2024 Jacksepticeye

Irish gaming content creator Jacksepticeye (Seán William McLoughlin) once again held his annual Thankmas livestream for an amazing cause. With McLoughlin and Ethan Nestor taking the main charge, it was a stream full of laughs, fun-filled segments, and special guests. When the event livestream wrapped up, the total amount on the big screen was over $3 million. This amount crushed the goal of $2 million and made the livestream a huge success for everyone involved. While it didn’t overtake last year’s fundraising, it’s still incredible to see how so many people came together to give to these causes.

The Heartfelt Cause

This year, all Thankmas funds raised are going to Crisis Text Line and Samaritans. Both charities provide support for people going through times of emotional and mental stress. As we are in such stressful times, the work that these charities do has become ever more noble. With a greater need for mental health services comes a bigger need for funding. This is why charity events like Thankmas are so great. They help these organizations, which in turn helps them help more people who need it.

What makes Thankmas such a successful event every time is that it provides such a fun time while raising money. Mcloughlin and Nestor were joined by gaming content creators like Ludwig, Valkyrae, Sykkuno, and many more. They took part in skits that led to laughs across the in-person audience and people at home. The audience was also treated to a concert by Canadian singer-songwriter and rapper bbno$, who was accompanied by a talented choir. While the audio at home was quite crackly at certain points during the performance, the spirit and energy that they brought to the event overshadowed any audio issues.

Jacksepticeye Takes Top Spot

During the Thankmas livestream, a list of the top 15 donors was displayed on a big screen along with the total funds raised. Mcloughlin himself took the top donor spot. That’s because he kept his promise of donating $250 thousand after the total crossed the $2.25 million threshold. To sweeten the offer even more, Arin Hanson from Game Grumps offered to give McLoughlin a nice kiss. Of course, he kept his end of the deal to much of the delight of the audience. Although the 14 others on the big and bright list didn’t get a kiss from the legendary Game Grumps member, they still showed off their immense generosity in full, which is what the holiday season truly is all about.

How To Continue The Donations

Just because Jacksepticeye’s livestream is said and done, it doesn’t mean that the generosity is over. Thankmas continues for the holiday season. Streamers and content creators are able to take part. The total amount of funds raised for Crisis Text Line and Samaritans continues to climb thanks to content creators like Dawko. For those who choose to do so, the option to donate at any time is available. When coming together, it’s possible to make this year’s Thankmas even more of a success than it already is. With the funds going to such good causes, there’s really not much to lose except for a single dollar. It’s also the time for gamers around the world to continue showing everyone just how generous our communities truly are.
