The Tomb: Call of Duty Confirms New Zombies Map for Black Ops 6

The Tomb

The Tomb will be the fourth map available in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Zombies. It will be the second DLC map added to the game. As part of 115 Day, the CoD team showed off a bunch of things planned for the zombies mode in the future. 115 Day is a celebration of the game mode and a reference to Element 115, the element that created zombies and started the incredible journey this game mode has been on. Here’s what we learned.

The Tomb Confirmed as New DLC Zombies Map

After weeks of leaks and speculation, Black Ops 6 has officially confirmed that there is another DLC map coming. It follows Citadelle Des Morts, which joined Liberty Falls and Terminus after launch. There could be more maps down the road, but for now, there are three with a fourth coming in the next couple of weeks. Most zombies games have had a lot of maps, even ranging up to eight in some games. There could be a lot planned, but even the immediate future is promising.

Treyarch posted a lot to showcase what the new map will entail. Much of this confirms the earlier leaks, including that it would be at least partially underground. Fans speculated on a sequel to Origins from Black Ops 2 since it was partly underground and the closing scene of Citadelle Des Morts hinted at a dig site like Origins. Buried, also from Black Ops 2, was almost entirely underground, too. The Tomb will be underground since it is built on the remains of ancient holy burial grounds. It sounds like Call of Duty is getting a little spooky with this map.

Treyarch also shared another tweet that states, “Rumor has it, a British archeologist began an excavation at the dig site back in 1908 and was never heard from again… What was he searching for?” This seems to be a clear reference to Origins, as that map was set in 1914 in World War I. The timeline makes sense here, but it will be interesting to see how this all meshes with the overall lore of Black Ops zombies.

When Does The Tomb Come to Black Ops 6?

The Tomb will be available with the Season 2 update which arrives on January 28. Treyarch also posted about Directed Mode on 115 Day. Directed Mode, which is for my money the best addition the game mode has had in years, allows players to complete the Easter Eggs in a step-by-step fashion while guiding them through and capping the rounds to make it less dangerous. They said Easter Egg completion is way up, which was their goal. However, given that Citadelle launched without Directed Mode and only got it a few weeks ago, don’t expect The Tomb to have it immediately. The mode itself only launched in mid-November.

In Conclusion

Call of Duty continues to try and make Zombies better. They are adding a new map, but Season 2 will also introduce some key quality-of-life changes. That includes co-op pausing, which is a great feature in solo play. This way, you can research how to do things on a map without having to risk death. AFK Kick Recovery is also coming, so anyone kicked for inactivity can rejoin with their essence, perks, and weapons intact. All this and more is coming soon, and the future of Black Ops 6 is so exciting.
