How to Get the Staff of Ice in Black Ops 6 Zombies

Staff of Ice

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 just dropped the Season 2 update, which added plenty of content, like the Staff of Ice, to the game. In it was a brand-new Zombies map, The Tomb. Hailed as a spiritual successor to Origins from Black Ops 2, The Tomb has a lot of references to that map. One of the most overt references is the return of one of the elemental staffs from that map. Origins had four elemental staffs similar to how Citadelle Des Morts has four elemental swords. The Tomb only has one, the Ice Staff. It’s the map’s exclusive Wonder Weapon, which means it’s pretty difficult to get. Here’s how to do it.

Open the Door

The first step to getting the Staff of Ice in Black Ops 6 is to open the Door to Nowhere. This is the first mission the map lays out for you, and it’s the only way to get Pack-A-Punch or Juggernog. As a side note, it makes this map one of the more challenging ones since Jug is not readily available for a while. The doors are expensive as well, and you need to open a few before you can open the Door to Nowhere. Other doors will eventually need to be opened, but first things first: open the Door to Nowhere by interacting with the pedestal in front of the teleporter.

Once you get inside, you should try and Pack-A-Punch your weapon(s). This isn’t necessary per se, but it’s pretty useful for getting the Staff of Ice. There will be some waves of zombies you have to survive to get the staff, and they can be pretty overwhelming with a standard weapon. I found that packing the GS45 and getting Sally is very useful for the later steps, but that may be easier said than done with the Mystery Box. Also, get Juggernog while you’re inside. It’s vital on any zombies map.

Kill a Shock Mimic

This map‘s main miniboss zombie is the Shock Mimic. Similar to the Amalgam from Terminus, it will grab you and bring you in for a bite. If it does, you’ll be momentarily stunned by the electricity. Keep your distance. This miniboss spawns on round eight, so survive until then and kill it one it spawns. It will drop a monocle. This is the first item you need to get the Staff. If you’re worried about other minibosses, worry not. There are others aside from the Mimic that you’ll have to kill, too.

Destroy the Purple Crystals

You may have noticed purple crystals around the map and possibly a purple lantern. Destroy them now. The lantern should move into different rooms in the tomb portion of the map once you destroy it. Keep doing so until you see a wall with an animal on it that has lit-up symbols on it. You need to shoot the symbols in order. Fortunately, the order is just numerical. They’re Roman Numerals. If you mess up, it won’t make you start over, either. Once it’s done, you’ll have to survive waves of zombies.

Survive the Lockdown

Once you’ve done the above step, a lockdown sequence is triggered. There are about four waves of zombies in a small area. You can leave the area. I learned this by accident when trying to accomplish this with my brother.

I died and he left the area. We came back later and the final wave was still waiting there. The last wave involves multiple minibosses. Once you’ve survived, you will get one-half of the staff, either the head or the staff part. Repeat the above step with the purple lantern and the wall symbols and then survive the lockdown again. For what it’s worth, the first symbol wall was near Deadshot Daquiri when I did this. The second was in the first room in the tomb where the Mystery Box starts out.

Combine the Pieces

Finally, all you need to do is combine the pieces. There’s a wall with a circle in it in the middle of the Dark Aether section of the map (inside the Door to Nowhere). Place the items in and then get ready for another lockdown sequence of sorts. You have one minute to both survive and protect the staff. If you fail, you can try again on the next round. If you survive, you’ll be given the Staff of Ice.

It can be upgraded, but that’s a story for another day. Keep in mind that there is no Directed Mode for this yet, so it can be difficult. Furthermore, the staff is available through the Mystery Box as a Wonder Weapon, but that requires some intense RNG luck. You could also use a Wunderbar Gobblegum, but that gives you a 50/50 shot at getting the Ray Gun.
