Batman is one of the most iconic characters in pop culture. The Arkham series from Rocksteady was one of the most critically acclaimed trilogies of all time. The company spared no expense. Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill voiced the caped Crusader and the Joker, respectively. Fighting criminals felt natural, and the gadgets put gamers in the shoes of Bruce Wayne. After Arkham Knight was released in 2015, fans wondered what the future of Batman games would be. While fans may have to wait, reports indicate players will be jumping back into the universe at some point soon.
New Batman Game In Development At Rocksteady
Fans have a little bit of a sour taste in their mouth from the latest DC Comics video game from the studio. Suicide Squad Kills The Justice League was hyped as the next evolution of storytelling and gameplay. Players could choose from four different characters, and the content would keep coming. At the end of the main plot, it was revealed there were 12 different Brainiacs in different multiverses, and the team would have to find all of them. Unfortunately, fans didn’t latch on to the idea, and support was canceled soon after release.
Rocksteady is learning from their mistakes. When Bloomberg reported a new Batman game was in development, the first thing that caught the eyes of fans was the single-player aspect. This means players will buy one game with the entire storyline. No bells and whistles or content that will be released every month. That’s the good news. The bad news is the game is likely several years away. Outside of the announcement it was in development, no additional details were offered. Will it be set in the existing universe or tell a new story? Who will voice Batman? While there are many questions, fans are happy to hear another game is coming.
Need To Scratch The Superhero Itch?
While it stinks to have to wait a few years, the beauty of the original Batman series is they are replayable. Even without the shock of the storyline, players can still spend hours beating bad guys to a pulp and sneakily thwarting the schemes of villainous masterminds. Arkham Asylum and Arkham City are currently playable on most platforms. If you haven’t already bought the game, there are further remasters and Game of the Year editions available at a relatively cheap price.
If you’ve already played the main storyline, gamers can give themselves a challenge by collecting trophies or completing all the side missions. Arkham City especially gave players the freedom to roam around Gotham and stop petty crimes that were happening on the streets. Even in the main storyline, players can try to do the whole game with stealth or improve their combat skills with huge combos. If nothing else, it’s a great stress reliever to beat some bad guys to a pulp.

If you are a Batman fan, this is the type of announcement that makes you jump for joy. This series was one of the best ever, and if the studio can duplicate that success by adding in new features, they could have another hit on their hands. We’ll have to wait for more details, but at least we know we’ll be able to roam the streets of Gotham once again in the near future.
