Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 got its midseason update yesterday. Season 2 Reloaded dropped, marking the halfway point between now and the next season when a new battle pass, new zombies map, and new multiplayer locations will inevitably be added to the game. Perhaps the biggest addition, especially for those who love zombies, is the inclusion of Directed Mode for The Tomb, the second DLC map for BO6 zombies.
Directed Mode allows players to work through the Easter Eggs with a round cap to prevent them from being overwhelmed. It also gives them step-by-step instructions on how to complete said Easter Egg, thereby giving players what they need to complete maps and fight the final boss. Now, all four maps have this special mode.
The Tomb Directed Mode Debuts in Black Ops 6 Reloaded Update
The Tomb debuted earlier this year, harkening back to Black Ops 2‘s Origins map and bringing back the Staff of Ice. It was, briefly, the only map without Directed Mode. This is not a new feature for Black Ops 6, but it is relatively new to the franchise and has been a smash hit so far. It has enticed a lot of players to, for the first time, attempt to complete a map’s quest. For my money, it’s the best addition to zombies this game has. It allows players to work through and fight the Sentinel Artifact, giving a challenging but not overwhelming main quest to complete. It’s more like Liberty Falls than Terminus or Citadelle Des Morts.
Cowabunga Cranked Arrives for TMNT Collab
Directed Mode wasn’t the only big addition to Black Ops 6 zombies. Cowabunga Cranked, the appropriately named Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles crossover, arrived in the Season 2 Reloaded update as well. In this mode, players have 1:30 to kill a zombie. Every time they do, the timer resets. If it hits zero, the game is over. There’s also a TMNT power-up in this mode that allows players to fight as one of the turtles. Turtle Power temporarily gives players Pack-A-Punch 3 melee weapons to fight with like Raphael’s Staff. There are also other pizza-related power-ups that will help you fight the timer.
Other Additions in Season 2 Reloaded
Zombies wasn’t the only mode that got updated for Season 2 Reloaded. There is a fitting skate park-themed map, for TMNT, in Multiplayer now for 6v6 modes. Bullet, the long-awaited train map, also arrived in 6v6 play with players competing in very tight quarters in the length of a bullet train. There are also TMNT minigame modes for Multiplayer as well.
A new perk, Hunter’s Instinct, has also dropped. “Eliminating an enemy will mark the next closest one. A narrow cone briefly appears on your mini-map after an elimination, showing the general direction of your next nearest foe,” the perk description reads. A new wildcard, Flyswatter, allows you to replace a Dedicated Melee weapon with a Launcher. This was a minor, midseason update compared to the big ones that take place with new seasons, but one of those will be along soon enough.
