Mario Kart World Direct Reveals 8 Exciting Tracks
The Nintendo Direct for Mario Kart World showed off plenty of interesting features like Free Roam mode and Yoshi’s Diner. Of course, one of the most iconic aspects of any Mario Kart game is the tracks. Over the years, Mario Kart games have been full of memorable and innovative tracks, and it looks like Mario Kart World will continue that tradition. Here are the tracks that the Direct advertised.
Mario Bros. Circuit

The Direct advertises that you can “ride the ridges” and “cruise the curves around the canyon” in this course. It appears to be taking place on a paved track in the middle of a desert, but at least part of the track will elevate around a canyon edge. There is also at least one tunnel through the canyon. This looks like it will be a fun track to test the game’s new jumps on.
Crown City
For this urban track, the Direct gave us glimpses of both day and night, showing off the game’s new day and night feature that the first trailer advertised. The Direct shows boost pads, traffic, and Yoshi’s kart changing into a plane to fly over the roads. There also appear to be easter eggs in the form of posters on the buildings. I always enjoy the city tracks, and this one looks like it will have plenty to see.
Salty Salty Speedway

This track seems to take place through the canals of a Venice-style watery city. The vehicles change into jet skis to go charging through the water, but at least part of the track will be on land. Of course, after Mario Kart 7 and Mario Kart 8 let you race underwater, one has to wonder if that feature remains in Mario Kart World. Racing underwater was a highlight.
Starview Peak
This snowy course features a colorful ice palace that the racers can drive around. Ice tracks mean vehicles can slip around, so there should be a lot of chaos here. Plus, the Direct showed one of the penguins from Super Mario 64 racing through here. Who wouldn’t love to race as a penguin?
Boo Cinema

“It’s a whole new kind of drive-in theater,” the Direct advertises. The players can race around and through a haunted movie theater with giant Boos popping out. What kinds of movies will this theater show? It would be neat if you could stop at the theater in Free Roam Mode and take in a movie.
The following courses were only shown for a few seconds each.
Toad’s Factory
In a glimpse from the direct, racers were driving through a colorful factory with crushers everywhere. That could be fun, or it could be really annoying.
Peach Beach

This clip showed jet ski racers driving through the ocean with Peach’s castle in the background. The sun reflecting in the ocean looked pretty.
Wario’s Shipyard
It’s dark, stormy, and spooky. There was a wrecked ship sticking out of the water, indicating that Boos could haunt this place.
Conclusion
In addition to the new tracks, the Direct assured us that there will be courses from previous games integrated into the open world. Overall, the courses look beautiful, and the Direct made you want to go driving through them to race or to explore. Even though Mario Kart World’s price has generated controversy, it will undoubtedly be a great game.
