TL;DW – LEC Edition: VIT Pull Out a Win Against BDS
Week 5, Day 3 of the LEC Spring Split 2. VIT vs BDS. VIT’s roster is Naak Nako (top), Lyncas (jungle), Czajek (mid), Carzzy (bot), and Nisqy (support). BDS’s roster is Irrelevant (top), 113 (jungle), nuc (mid), Ice (bot), and Parus (support). VIT is 2-3, BDS is 3-3.
Game 1: A Rolling LEC Boulder Crushes All

- VIT goes for a team that favors ending the game quickly. The picked Rumble but they don’t really have much lockdown so I’m not sure how much they’ll get out of his Equalizer. BDS’ team is better at stopping engages and prolonged fighting.
- VIT is unable to get their comp working early game, with BDS getting several early kills. The power of the Ashe/Seraphine is particularly dominate during the laning phase. Despite getting more kills, BDS doesn’t follow it up with controlling objectives. VIT is able to take the majority of the Grubs and at least 1 Drake.
- As the game progresses, VIT power starts to ramp up and they manage to win several team fights. Lyncas manages to use his Equalizer in tandem with nuc’s Weaver’s Wall to pretty decent effect. After winning a major team fight for a Drake, VIT steamroll through the rest of the game and crush BDS 17-9.
Game 2: BDS Put up a Fight
- Both team draft comps with impressive wombo combo potential. The question will be which team can execute better.
- BDS dominate the early game, with both mid and bot getting kills. VIT start to claw their way back in during the mid game but, after a fight for the Dragon Soul, which BDS claims, BDS is able to regain control and clench the game.
Game 3: VIT With a Surprise Victory
- VIT comp have several win conditions. It can team fight or split-push with equal efficiency. Likewise, BDS can also team fight or split-push but they don’t have quite the same level of roaming capabilities (Realm Warp can do work).
- BDS again dominates the early game. 113 presence in the lane leads to a good number of early kills. He also does a good job control the map, getting all 6 Voidgrubs and the first Drake.
- BDS lead continues into the mid game until a fight for the 3rd Drake of the game. By this point, VIT’s carries have had time to scale and deal enough damage to win the team fight (even if BDS managed to take the Drake). Even though VIT gain some advantages from this fight, BDS eventually retake the lead.
- The pivotal moment comes during a Baron fight. BDS have started the objective. VIT is coming in. Lyncas on Xin Zhao dives in. nuc (on Tristana) Buster Shots him away. 2 second later Nisqy Flashes in on Neeko and knocks up 4 members of BDS with Pop Blossom. This allows the rest of VIT to delete BDS. Even though 113 secures the Baron, VIT  kill 4 of BDS’ members and march up mid lane to end the game.
Post Game Analysis: Be Aware of You Surroundings
- VIT’s power seems to be in the team fight. They both of their wins came after major team fights that they win even when they are behind. Part of this comes from VIT’s coordination and skill. Another part is BDS bad position.
- In the last game, Nisqy is able to come in clutch and knock up 4 members of BDS. This would have happened if A. BDS had been more spread out and B. they hadn’t used 2 different CCs on Lyncas. Blitz pulled him after he dashed forward and then Tristana blasted him away. If they had saved one of those abilities they might have been able to stop Nisqy.
- After this series, VIT is now 3-3 and tied in 5th place with G2. BDS, 3-4, is just under them in 7th place. It is highly unlikely that either team will advance to the next stage of the competition.
