Fans Decode Donkey Kong Bananza Alphabet Ahead of Official Mechanic Reveal
With the Nintendo Switch 2’s exciting launch date rapidly approaching, fans of the games already announced for the system are itching for news. Nintendo fans of the upcoming Donkey Kong Bananza are so starved for any piece of news, in fact, that they have resorted to breaking down the bits of trailer they have seen of the game so far. One YouTuber believes they have actually cracked the code for a mechanic that is seen in the gameplay but has not even officially been announced yet.
Donkey Kong Bananza Banana Alphabet Solved Faster Than It Was Announced

Fans of Donkey Kong have been itching for more information on the new entry, after Donkey Kong Bananza received a surprise announcement trailer during the April Switch 2 Direct. This will be the first entry in the series in a decade, so players are understandably hyped for the latest entry in the Mario and Friends subfranchise. It appears the game will have some elements of side-scrolling, some elements of 3D Platformer, and even some elements of open-world, a genre other platformers, including Mario, Sonic, and Pac-Man, have also made recent forays into.
Players awaiting more news about Donkey Kong Bananza have been chomping at the bit, and Nintendo has not offered much for them to feed on. Therefore, it appears some fans have taken it upon themselves to investigate. Using multiple different pieces of media, including trailer images, screenshots from the Nintendo Treehouse presentation, and information on the Nintendo Today App, YouTuber 2Crispy seems to have decoded a secret to the game.
In a video entitled “I Decoded the Ancient Monkey Scrolls of Donkey Kong Bananza”, the YouTuber breaks down the ancient language seen in the banana alphabet clips. It started with his ability to decode the sign “exchange” and then continued on with him making multiple other reveals. 2Chrispy figured out that another sign reads “Welcome,” and a third translates to “Ice.” Eventually, only B, J, Q, V, and Z are still left unaccounted for.
Granted, some of the letter creations were gained from logical inferences using some known letters in other parts of the word. Therefore, it is not certain that 2Crispy has everything right. Given what we know so far about Donkey Kong Bananza, though, it appears that everything he revealed so far makes logical sense. Time will tell what else Nintendo drops before release that could help finish this impressive decoding adventure.
Final Thoughts
Donkey Kong Bananza is certainly one of the more anticipated new games coming to Switch 2, perhaps second only to Mario Kart World, another Nintendo game that has not seen a new mainline release in years. Unlike Mario Kart, however, Donkey Kong will not be gracing our screens immediately upon the Switch 2 launch. Instead, the game will be available on July 17, about a month after the console comes out. When the game comes out, fans will get to see how the banana alphabet ends up playing out. Until then, fans will continue to pull together whatever they can.
