TL;DW – LTA North Edition: DSG Fall Short in Game 2 Against 100T
Week 7, Day 2 of the LTA North Split 2. 100T vs DSG. DSG is on Blue, 100T is on Red. 100T’s roster is Sniper (top), River (jungle), Quid (mid), FBI (bot), and Eyla (support). DSG’s roster is Castle (top), eXyu (jungle), Abbedagge (mid), ScaryJerry (bot), and huhi (support). 100T is 1-2, DSG is 0-3. 100T won the 1st game. Champion Selection: Ultimate Shield vs Ultimate Spear
Yone, Rumble, Gwen, Jayce, Vi, and Poppy banned out to start things off.
DSG takes Xin Zhao as their 1st pick. 100T lock in Kalista and Renata. DSG pick Annie and Sion. 100T counter with Aatrox.
100T targets the Support pool with Neeko and Karma bans, while DSG takes out Galio and Sejuani.
Viktor is grabbed by 100T during 2nd champ select. DSG takes Caitlyn and Ashe. 100T finishes things off with Trundle. DSG draft for power and poke. 100T opt for durability and peel.
Team comps are: DSG – Sion (top), Xin Zhao (jungle), Annie (mid), Caitlyn (bot), Ashe (support) vs 100T – Aatrox (top), Trundle (jungle), Viktor (mid), Kalista (bot), Renata (support).
Early Game Highlights: 2 Steps Forward, 4 Steps Back
River invades to try and Steal eXyu’s Raptors, while eXyu is on them. It comes down to a 50/50 Smite fight, and eXyu wins. As a result, eXyu invades River while he’s doing his Wolves and pushes him away.
Heavy skirmishing in Mid Lane. Quid gets Abbedagge very low, chases him down the lane, and then Flash-Q’s him to get 1st Blood.
River tries to take eXyu’s Blue Buff, but eXyu arrives and pushes him off. Sniper and River meet up in Top River and then roam down to intercept Abbedagge who was in River to provide back up if eXyu needed it. Abbedagge gets jumped on and killed by River while eXyu takes his Blue Buff.
River roams up Top and ganks Castle with Sniper, who gets the kill.
As River finishes taking Gromp, eXyu moves towards him through Bot River. River hides in a bush and ambushes him. They fight 1v1 while FBI and Eyla zone off ScaryJerry and huhi before roaming up to help. River almost dies, but Eyla drops Bailout on him at the last second, and he survives by killing eXyu.
River attempts a Gank Mid Lane, but Abbedagge manages to make it out. Quid did miss the Hextech Ray, but Abbedagge probably would have survived anyway.
DSG start up Voidgrubs, and though 100T does hover around, they take it mostly uncontested.
eXyu attempts to Gank Mid Lane with Abbedagge, but Quid is able to get away with too many issues. Meanwhile, River takes the 1st Drake (Infernal) solo and uncontested.
Early Game ends with 100T up in gold by, interestingly enough, 100. DSG are up in farm, however.
Mid Game Highlights: A Sample Glimmer of Hope Quickly Dashed
eXyu’s Early Game advantage has evaporated as River is able to walk up to him while he’s doing Gromp, Smite-Steal it, and walk away without issue.
Eyla goes aggressive on DSG Bot Duo in the Top Lane. He Flashes forward and throws out the Handshake, but huhi dodges it by Flashing. FBI engages as well, and Eyla hits huhi with Hostile Takeover.
FBI then uses Fate’s Call. Eyla hurls himself at huhi, who goes down to FBI. ScaryJerry tries to take FBI down, but Bailout keeps him up long enough for River, who came in from behind, to kill ScaryJerry and prevent FBI’s death. Fight goes 2-0 for 100T.
4 members of DSG Gank Quid under his Outer Top Turret. He manages to kite them back to his Inner Top Turret, which gives his team a chance to come up. Sniper, in spite of getting a Bailout, ends up dying to Abbedagge (who’d just TPed in). DSG then chases River through most of Top River before he’s finally killed by Castle. Fight geos 2-0 for DSG.
As the teams gather around Mid Lane to set up for the 2nd Drake, ScaryJerry gets caught out of position. Handshake plus Hostile Takeover seals his fate. FBI gets the kill. eXyu also gets caught out, but he manages to survive thanks to Crescent Guard. Off this, 100T takes the Outer Mid Turret of DSG for 1st Turret of the game.
There is a trade of objectives as DSG takes Rift Herald, but 100T takes the 2nd Drake (Hextech).
Abbedagge and Quid skirmish a little in Top Lane until but once Abbedagge gets low enough, Quid chases him down the lane and kills him. Meanwhile, 100T chunk huhi down, and Sniper chases him through the Red Side Bot Jungle. He escapes by using a Blast Cone.
A fight starts up in Top River/Blue Side Bot Jungle. 4 members 100T barrel face first into 5 members of DSG while Sniper comes in from behind to flank. huhi is able to start things off by getting a kill on to River, but Eyla immediately retaliates by killing Abbedagge
eXyu is the next to fall. He dies to Quid. Castle gets pulled back by Eyla’s Handshake and, after a short chase, dies to FBI. Quid almost dies to ScaryJerry but manages to get away. The fight goes 3-1 for 100T.
Mid Game ends with 100T now ahead by 5k and ahead in farm as well.
Late Game Highlights: 100T Make a Statement
eXyu drops Herald in the Top Lane and drives it into the Outer Top Turret of 100T, taking the objective. He then jumps back into it and drives it down Top River, running into Eyla. eXyu then hops out of Shelly and chases Eyla through the Red Side Top Jungle. Eyla survives by burning Flash. While this is happening, FBI gets hit by a Crystal Arrow and killed by ScaryJerry.
As DSG starts the 3rd Drake (Cloud), Abbedagge gets caught out in Bot Side Top Jungle by 4 members of 100T. He gets completely deleted with Quid getting the kill. 100T then charged down and engaged DSG.
eXyu manages to secure the Drake. River manages to kill Castle while tanking a massive amount of damage. He manages to get away. Sniper takes down ScaryJerry inside the Dragon Pit while huhi tries to get a kill.
Though he does decent damage, he gets taken low and has to flee, with Quid in hot pursuit. eXyu, meanwhile, is left alone with 3 members of 100T. eXyu dies to Eyla, and huhi dies to Quid for the ACE. The fight goes 5-0 to 100T, though DSG gets the objective.
Off the back of this fight, 100T goes Top Side and takes the Atakhan. They then move down to siege the Inner Top Turret of DSG. There is a lot of skirmishing, and both teams get taken pretty low before disengaging.
ScaryJerry and huhi are caught out in the Blue Side Bot Jungle. They get chased through the Jungle before dying to FBI and Quid, respectively. eXyu gets chased down. He tries to jump onto Quid in an effort to take someone with him, but Quid goes Golden, and eXyu dies to Sniper.
Abbedagge is the next to be targeted as he tries to walk into his Base. He dies to Quid. Castle, the last man standing, dies to FBI. Fight goes 5-0 for 100T, who now turn their attention to Baron. With everyone on DSG down, they take it no contest.
As 100T siege both Bot and Mid Base Turrets, Abbedagge almost dies to Quid’s Chaos Storm. DSG has to back away, allowing 100T to take Base Mid and Bot Turrets, as well as Mid and Bot Inhibitors.
DGS attempts a final Hail Mary. huhi’s Crystal Arrow misses, eXyu dives onto Quid but has to use his Crescent Guard and back away, and Castle’s Unstoppable Onslaught almost hits Quid too, but he goes Golden, so Castle ends up ramming into River.
With all these Ultimate blown, 100T counterattack. Sniper uses The Darken Blade to knock up and kill eXyu and Abbedagge at the same time. FBI then takes out Castle, and Quid deletes huhi. ScaryJerry tries to back off but gets slowed by Trundle’s Pillar and dies to Sniper. With no one around to stop them, 100T ends the game.
Post Game Analysis: LTA North Round 3 is Set
100T ends the game at 29:04 with a 16k gold lead. The final score is 26-4 for 100T.
During the game, one of the commentators mentioned that DSG is really trying to get back and improve. I don’t doubt. As such, in the interest of helping them improve, here’s some advice: work on your positional awareness and STOP GETTING CAUGHT OUT!
While it’s mostly ScaryJerry who seems to constantly put himself into bad situations, in this game, Abbedagge was equally, if not more so, guilty as well. Work on your vision and pay attention to wear you are relative to your teammates. Otherwise, all you are doing is handing over kills for free.
Another issue I noticed in both this game and the game before is that DSG seems disinclined to help each other out. When someone gets jumped on, they are left to fend for themselves. This is a team game. Help each other. Even if you don’t think you can win, your presence might dissuade the other team from chasing.
With this win, 100T secures their place in Round 3 of LTA North Split 2. Unfortunately for DSG, this loss means they are out until the next Split comes around. Hopefully they will take a few lessons from this Event and work on improving before Split 3.
Terms
Early Game: Any time before 10 minutes, first outer tower down, or first level 10 (whichever comes first).
Mid Game: Between early game and either 20 minutes, 2 inner towns down, half the players are level 16, or 3rd dragon killed.
Late Game: Any time after mid game.
