Fractured Blooms – Chill Farming Sim Meets Psychological Horror

The trailer for Fractured Blooms was revealed at Summer Game Fest. Developed by Serenity Forge, this first-person game combines psychological horror with farming sim elements, which is sure to make for a unique experience.

The trailer begins with the intriguing words, “Inspired by a True Story.” An anime girl is working on a farm, but there is blood dripping from her eye. A creepy voiceover that combines multiple voices chants, “I sit at the dinner table where He used to be, five chairs empty, five plates full.” As the voice continues chanting about “Plates of food, plates of tomatoes, plates of pain,” we see a first-person perspective of working in the garden and dicing food. As the trailer climaxes, the camera follows a glowing red line on the ground to a dead tree, also glowing red, before the whole world seems to break down.

How About That Gameplay?

The game’s Steam page states that the anime girl, Angie, is stuck in a time loop. Like in most farming sims, you will plant crops, cook food, decorate your house, “and enjoy the peaceful rituals of everyday life.” However, the Steam page mysteriously says, “Plant them, Raise them, Pick them, Cleanse them, Plant them, Break them, Stain them, Save them, Blood as thin as glass.” Fractured Blooms clearly isn’t your Stardew Valley type of farming sim. As you play, you will unravel more of the mystery surrounding the farm and the time loop.

Conclusion

Did you ever play Harvest Moon and wish there were more horror? If so, Fractured Blooms is the game for you. There is currently no planned release date, but you can wishlist the game on Steam. You can enjoy the relaxation of farming and cooking while also being terrified by creepy imagery and a disturbing story. How can you not love that?
