MSI 2025 Day 2 Preview: Elimination and Qualification Begins Today
The first day of the Mid-Season Invitational did not disappoint. Furia pushed G2 Esports to the brink but could not finish the job. On the other side, Bilibili Gaming shut down GAM Esports. Those two matches have set up today’s play brilliantly, with original expectations thrown out of the window. Furia and GAM battle to stay in the competition, while G2 and BLG fight to qualify for the Bracket Stage.
MSI Day Two Schedule
Day Two of MSI starts with the Lower Bracket match between Furia and GAM. The games begin at noon PST (9 pm CET), followed directly by the Upper Bracket match featuring BLG and G2. The latest start for the Upper Bracket match is 5 pm PST (2 am CET, June 29th).
Furia Versus GAM Esports
Furia 3 – 2 GAM Esports
Early expectations for this series would be that GAM would defeat the South American representative. After the first day of matches, that has flipped on its head. Furia not only fought back against G2, but they seemed to be the better team in large portions of the series. While GAM was in decent spots in their first two games, during the mid-game team fights, they were second best. The series should be close, but Furia will be in the driving seat.
G2 Esports Versus Bilibili Gaming
G2 Esports 1 – 3 Bilibili Gaming
Going into MSI, there were question marks surrounding who would emerge as the best Play-Ins team. After the first two matches, BLG has soared ahead of G2. G2 looked disconnected in their series against Furia, while BLG crushed GAM in team fights. G2 will need to recover quickly to have a chance against the LPL giants. While G2 can take a game, it is unlikely they will win the series.
How The Day Will Impact Proceedings
The loser of the Furia and GAM series will be out of MSI, while the winner proceeds to the final qualification match. BLG and G2 fight for a spot in the Bracket Stage, while the loser will have to play a qualification series against the winner of Furia and GAM.
