MSI 2025: Anyone’s Legend Versus FlyQuest More Western Hope Ends in Despair
The North American first seed, FlyQuest, took to the stage for the first time at MSI 2025. They faced the LPL first seed, and international newcomers, Anyone’s Legend. A wholesome moment occurred before the game started, with Massu and his family bringing the English talent to the verge of tears. FlyQ came out swinging in game one to start the series. While they remained competitive in the following three games, AL was the better team, and they closed out the series 3-1 to advance in the MSI Upper Bracket.

The contest for the Rift Herald allows AL to secure the objective, but FlyQ wins the fight with five kills over a long battle. After a couple of minutes of respite, FlyQ gets trigger-happy and allows AL to get the shutdown on Massu and mid-tier one. The following fight began because Tarzan got caught, and FlyQ won with a 5-0 ace. FlyQ is now on Mountain Soul point.
AL burns down Atakan before FlyQ gets there, but they are unable to leave, and the North American seed dominates a second straight fight, gaining the Baron Buff. Right before FlyQ’s Mountain Soul, Kael is caught and brings the Senna W to his team. It is four kills to one in favor of FlyQ, and they secure the soul. Another time that Kael is caught, and FlyQ gets their second Baron. Shortly after, FlyQ won the game.

AL slowly built up a lead, cresting to almost 3k at 14 minutes. FlyQ does their best to keep the game from ballooning out of control. Flandre is unstoppable as he kills Quad after his TP gets cancelled and knocks down two top towers. AL secures Atakan and a 6k gold lead at 21 minutes. Shortly after AL killed Drake, moving to Mountain Soul point. The Baron is all AL needs to end the game and tie up the series.

Summary
The FlyQ botlane trades aggressively, which sets up a gank from Inspired. Massu grabs the first blood with a well-placed W. The first ultimate from Quad results in both summoner spells and Hope’s life being lost. FlyQ is trying to find ways to gain an advantage, but AL does not give them the opportunity.
When FlyQ finally gets the angle, they lack the damage to win. The following fight is in FlyQ’s favor as they get three kills and the Atakan. The Chemtech Soul point and Baron go to AL as they prevent Inspired from getting his reset. The Soul fight comes down to only one player on each team left alive. Round 2 goes the way of AL, and they have Chemtech Soul. AL’s second Baron push wins the game.

Summary
Shanks’ mid lane prio prevents Inspired from finding early plays. Massu makes his first significant mistake of the series as he satchels into AL’s botlane and dies. The game starts to roar to life at 11:30 with Shanks getting a triple kill to build further on his lead. AL continues to skirmish and extend their advantages. An extended play results in multiple kills for both teams, but in the end, it is AL who emerges with more gold and the Atakan.
AL denies the Drake stacking and puts the likelihood of FlyQ taking the series to game five on its last legs. It goes from bad to worse for FlyQ as a Hail Mary fight goes sideways and AL gets the Baron. AL does not end the game with Baron, but the lead is unassailable. At 32:30, AL pulls the trigger, secures the Ace, wins the game, and clinches the series 3-1.
Reaction
The series ended with the same result as the GenG Esports versus G2 Esports match. It does not bode well for the Western teams that they have three straight games after winning the first against Eastern teams at MSI. A vital difference between FlyQ and G2 is that the North American team looked far more competitive in their losses. Even during game four, with the gold lead growing, FlyQ pushed AL in fights despite the deficit and their having a poor draft. AL also looked better overall than what GenG did. AL will now face GenG in the MSI Upper Bracket, while FlyQ drops down to the Lower Bracket to play against G2.
