“Grow A Garden” Prehistoric Blast To The Past Event
“Grow A Garden,” one of Roblox’s top games, has implemented a new, exciting event for players. Gone is the Summer Harvest, and now, in its place, is a prehistoric event with exciting new pets. It is undetermined how long this event will last, as some events tend to last longer than others — the Bizzy Bee event running a month, versus the Summer Harvest running two weeks — but nonetheless, this event is sure to bring joy to players.
Digging Up Bones
Over the past two weekends, in a surprising turn of events, “Grow A Garden” ended their summer harvest and has instead brought in everyone’s favorite interest: dinosaurs. For this new event, players can log in to find the harvest basket gone, and in its place, a dig site with a DNA machine, multiple NPCs —a trading NPC, a dinosaur NPC, a quest NPC— and a crafting table.
First things to note, players can talk to the NPC, ‘Graham’, at the DNA machine, and can exchange any pet they own —except for dinosaurs— for a dinosaur egg. The machine will take an hour to generate your new egg. There is a small chance for players to receive a fully grown dinosaur instead of eggs, although the rarity of the dinosaur is rather slim.
The quest NPC, ‘Blaire’, will supply three daily quests —and two bonus quests— that once completed will reward players with a dinosaur egg, an ancient seed pack, and a dino crate. There is also a weekly reward, a Bone Blossom seed, and every time the player fills the bar and reaches a tick, they will receive additional rewards, such as gear, cosmetics, and more ancient seeds.
The dinosaur NPC, ‘Barry’, will ask players for prehistoric plants in exchange for upgrades to the pet machine. This will include: a primal egg, time reduction to 48 minutes, 2 eggs at a time from the machine, craftable eggs, and one final time reduction that lowers the wait to 24 minutes.
Dino Perks

Every dinosaur pet has their own perk that helps the players with their gardens.
- Raptor: will mutate a fruit to ‘amber’ upon collection, and will increase the player’s movement speed
- Triceratops: will ram into plants to advance their growth
- Stegosaurus: will duplicate plants upon collection
- Pterodactyl: applies windstruck to plants, and grants an increase to the player’s jump height
- Brontosaurus: pets have a chance of increasing size and weight when hatched
- T-Rex: will eat a random fruit and roar, applying the mutation of that plant to the ones nearby
- Parasaurolophus: will go to the cosmetic crate with the highest time, and will reduce its open time
- Iguanodon: helps all active dinosaur pets gain additional exp
- Pachycephalosaurus: has a chance of duplicating a crafted item
- Dilophosaurus: will spray venom to advance nearby pets’ cooldown
- Ankylosaurus: will grant the user the fruit that another player attempted to steal from the user
- Spinosaurus: similar to T-Rex, will eat a random mutation from 5 fruits in the player’s garden, then will roar and spread the mutation to 1 random fruit
Shop Changes
Upon the latest “Grow A Garden” update, the shops have all been overhauled with new seeds, gear, and more.
The seed shop has returned to its default seeds and has since added two new seeds: burning bud and giant pinecone. However, if players still wish to purchase summer seeds, they will have to wait for the traveling merchant who provides them.
The pet shop at the other end of the map has gone through a massive upgrade. Players can now use the pet mutation shop once one of their pets reaches the age of 50 or higher. Players can also find their eggs in a shiny new shop, where they can see every available egg, the rarity, the cost, and when the egg will be available.
The gear shop has also been given new gear, such as a medium toy, a medium treat, and a level-up lollipop.
The crafting tables have received an upgrade as well. Players can craft four more seeds: horsetail, lingonberry, amber spine, and grand volcania.
Mutations & Weather
A new event always brings new mutations and weather, which helps the value of a player’s plant. So far, some weather events haven’t been fully caught, so here is what we have seen so far.
As usual, we have our previous weather and have now been introduced to a sandstorm, an aurora, and a drought. A sandstorm will apply ‘sandy,’ an aurora will apply ‘aurora, ’ and a drought will apply ‘wilt. ’ With ‘sandy,’ if sandy plants are also wet, there is a chance for the fruit to mutate into ‘clay’.
Alongside these, we have also been given new mutations, such as amber, old amber, tempestuous, and ceramic. However, players have yet to figure out how tempestuous and ceramic mutate.
Jurassic Park Era
All in all, “Grow A Garden’s” Prehistoric Event is shaping up to be an exciting limited event with exclusive pets, new valuable seeds, and fun decorations. It has been stated that fans have voted and requested that the developer implement a dinosaur event, with the perfect timing of releasing the update close to the new Jurassic World movie. If you enjoy dinosaurs, then this update will be enjoyable for you. After all, who wouldn’t want cool dinosaurs roaming their garden?
