Concierge

Concierge: Surreal Horror Puzzle Game Coming to Steam

Concierge is an upcoming indie horror game in which you wake up trapped in a snowbound hotel. Of course, you have no idea who you are or how you got there, so you’ve got to solve the mystery of your identity and try to escape. With surreal visuals and challenging puzzles, Conierge promises to be a memorable adventure.

Concierge: A Puzzle-Filled Adventure

The game’s Steam page advertises that “you will not be told what to do.” The game doesn’t guide you through the experience, which should make for an on-edge feeling while playing. You are armed with a camcorder that lets you “find clues, solve puzzles, and seek the supernatural through this special lens. Secrets are scattered throughout every nook and cranny of the inn – you will uncover what is hidden, if you simply dare to look.” Each level has a distinct art and play style, which should make each section of the game memorable.

The Trailer

The trailer demonstrates the varied visual styles that the game advertises. There is pixel art, painterly visuals, and even live-action black-and-white footage, along with trippy visuals such as a repeated image of a man reading a newspaper and two dead-eyed birds sitting in a window. The trailer ends with a message saying “you are X,” followed by the chilling decision to “kill X” or “don’t kill X.” After a moment, the cursor clicks on “kill X.” Do you actually have a suicide option in the game, or is this a fake out? You’ll have to play the game to find out.

Conclusion

Concierge looks like a fine addition to the already massive indie horror library. Fans of baffling puzzles, surreal visuals, and games that don’t hold your hand should find Concierge a worthwhile experience. Even if you can’t solve the puzzles without a walkthrough, you should still find the visuals enjoyable. Plus, I really want to know if “kill X” is something you can actually do in the game.
