The Best Video Games of 2025 (So Far)

As we pass the halfway point of 2025,  the roster of the best video games that have come out since the beginning of the year has tripled, and we’re only in August! At this time, we also start making decisions on things we like and dislike, which leads us to making lists, ranking EVERYTHING. Here is a list of the Best Video Games of 2025 (So Far):

DOOM: The Dark Ages

The DOOM series is known for its action-packed story adventures, which fans have come to love, so the anticipation for this prequel was not at all surprising. DOOM: The Dark Ages has shot to the # 1 spot in my book, with its compelling storyline and a different style of gameplay fans of the game aren’t used to, like the new parry mechanics with your shield. Dark Ages builds upon the lore of DOOM Eternal, the last installment of the series; however, it still has its own voice within the series. This is a must-play for fans and newbies of the series, and I can and will say it, one of the best video games of 2025!

Monster Hunter Wilds

Monster Hunter Wilds was one of the most anticipated games of 2025 (seriously, people could not stop talking about it!), and it did not disappoint. The open world gameplay and its online capabilities make this a fun game to play with friends, whether you are a casual player or grinding levels.

Assassins Creed Shadows

Assassin’s Creed has a long history, with almost 2 decades in their pocket and many successful games. Assassin’s Creed Shadows joins the lineup up set in feudal Japan. Gameplay-wise, Assassin’s Creed Shadows dominates with collecting and mismatching gear that provides different perks. The art and atmosphere really take you back to a time you can only read about in the history books. Assassin’s Creed Shadows is available on all platforms, so check it out!

Elden Ring: Nightreign

Elden Ring did not win Game of the Year in 2022 for no reason. Even today, Elden Ring has successfully captured audiences in its grip and it doesn’t seem like its slowing down. With Elden Ring: Nightreign, co-op gameplay is the way to go. The boss battles are intense, however, really fun, and the combination of an open-world RPG with rogue-like gameplay makes this an absolute blast to play.

Mafia: The Old Country

Mafia: The Old Country is the latest game to join the roster. Going back to its roots, The Old Country takes the form of a semi-open world gameplay, and it does such a great job in bringing you back to Old Sicily, the birthplace of the Italian mafia. Mixing a moody atmosphere with a western-style setting always makes for a great story (Red Dead Redemption). This is one game you’ll want to experience for yourself!
