Xbox Series X and Series S were released in late 2020 and sold more consoles in 24 hours than any previous incarnation. They have sold over 33 million units since then. However, their popularity has started to lag as their sales hit rock-bottom lows in 2024. If you’ve lost faith in Xbox, there is still hope. Some amazing, underrated games deserve a second look. I’ve compiled a list of the top 5 underrated Xbox games for you to check out today.  The main issue with these games is usually lag or bugs. However, the gameplay is generally good.

Spy Hunter

Spy Hunter is actually a sequel to the original 1983 arcade game. It was released in 2002. It’s in a similar vein to James Bond games. It features vehicle combat and racing. The graphics and gameplay in this video game are stellar, but it was laggy on NES, which hurt its popularity. Players would often encounter bugs, as well. However, it did include enhanced gaming features that would remove any malware.

Shadow of Memories

Shadow of Memories features time-traveling and a murder mystery. The atmosphere of this game is chilling and exciting. However, it felt to most fans like the gameplay was too repetitive. The game is short: only 3-5 hours of gameplay. But there are multiple endings.

Arx Fatalis

On the other hand, Arx Fatalis is a long and complex game. This may have been part of the problem. It balances non-linear gameplay with plot development. It is a highly immersive game, though. It takes around 30 hours to complete.

Mekazoo

Mekazoo is a 2-D platforming experience. It is played with mechanized animals. It is fast-paced and fun. While good on its own, it is far more fun with multiplayer. Fans complain it can feel scripted, but agree that gameplay is satisfying.

Titanfall 2

Titanfall 2 is a first-person shooter game featuring the main character, Jack Cooper.  He is a rifleman who becomes the pilot of a Titan (a large mechanized vehicle). It is a thrilling multiplayer game. You won’t see this game coming!  It takes around 6-7 hours to finish. It is fast-paced and dynamic. However, players complain of frequent freezing, crashing, and connection problems.
