Mega Man Star Force

Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection Amazingly Set To Release In 2026

After still waiting for a new entry in the Mega Man franchise from Capcom, a sudden announcement of the Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection surfaced. Aiming to bring the titles which began on the Nintendo DS to new platforms.
Though this may not lead to a new entry in the Star Force series, it is great to know that our “Brotherband” has not been severed with Omega-Xis granting the EM Wave power of a Mega Man to a new generation. With fans of the trilogy being able to re-experience these wonderful titles once again!

What is Mega Man Star Force?

While he may not quite be the Blue Bomber, this Mega Man is a generation past the one featured in the Battle Network franchise–which saw a Legacy Collection release just last year!

It stars a boy named Geo Stelar who goes into a bit of a depression after losing his father who was last seen in space. Though it was hard, he was helped by the likes of Luna Platz to come back to school after a long absence. Meanwhile, he meets a strange alien named Omega-Xis who assists the boy out by transforming him into this timeline’s Mega Man!

With this power, this Mega Man is granted access to the Wave World which allows for the two to take care of troubles that have infected the technology and even the minds of the defenseless. As those depressed were being granted devastating power by the FM-ians, leaving Mega Man to have to take care of them.

What is included in the collection?

After the announcement was posted on social media, though strangely missed the recent Nintendo Direct for those outside of Japan–all of the past games in the Star Force series have been brought to new consoles!

Though the series comprises primarily of the three numbered entries, much like Mega Man Battle Network and even Pokémon, there were multiple versions. With the following titles stated to be the following:

  • Mega Man Star Force 1 Pegasus
  • Mega Man Star Force 1 Dragon
  • Mega Man Star Force 1 Leo
  • Mega Man Star Force 2 Zerker x Saurian
  • Mega Man Star Force 2 Zerker x Ninja
  • Mega Man Star Force 3 Black Ace
  • Mega Man Star Force Red Joker

This would make for what appears to be 7 titles–though it is definitely fluffed out by counting the individual versions. They still offer slightly different experiences as they allow you to have access to version specific Battle Cards and special forms that all have distinct abilities.

Though this may not seem as robust as the previous collection, the Mega Man Star Force series has not received as much love as the other sub-series in the Mega Man franchise. With the 3rd entry in particular never officially releasing in Europe, making this release of the collection being the first time ever that everyone across the world gets to experience this amazing story!

All are newly enhanced with updated visuals and adjusted for single-screen use. As well as online play, which, unlike its older brother, is actually a returning feature from the DS! Allowing for PVP to be freely experienced once again, on top of features the past entries had when connecting multiple versions between players.

When is it set to release?

While a definite date has yet to be given, Capcom hopes to bring this collection to all platforms sometime in 2026–coming to Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam. With additional information expected to be shown off at this year’s Tokyo Game Show–where it, as well as other information regarding the collection, can be found out about on the game’s website!

Though it is uncertain how the Mega Man franchise is set to go moving forward, it is great to know that Capcom is committed to ensuring these wonderful games can be played on newer platforms–especially the ones that were severely left behind in the dust! Let us just hope that this collection’s release gives a refreshed look into these underrated titles, and prove to Capcom of interest in more.
