Elden Ring Morrowind The Sleeper

5 Powerful Reasons ‘The Sleeper’ Is Morrowind Fan Gold

A passionate team of Elder Scrolls fans has completed filming “The Sleeper,” a Morrowind-inspired short film set 15 years before the game’s events. With stunning locations, community-driven fundraising, and high production value, the project now enters post-production.

A Cinematic Tribute to Morrowind’s Darkest Lore

A dedicated group of Elder Scrolls fans has wrapped filming on The Sleeper, a short film set 15 years before the events of The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind. The story follows Draryn Thelas, a marginalized Dunmer, as he witnesses the ominous rise of the Sixth House- a cult central to Morrowind’s lore. This fan-made project aims to explore the game’s haunting mythology through a fresh, character-driven lens.

Filming concluded on September 18 after six intense days of production. The crew traveled from the historic Roman forts in South Shields, England, to the lush rural outskirts of Hong Kong, China. These diverse locations were chosen to reflect the rich cultural tapestry of Morrowind’s world, and the team used a Black Magic Camera to capture cinematic-quality footage.

Community-Powered Creativity and Purpose

What sets The Sleeper apart isn’t just its ambition-it’s the community spirit behind it. The filmmakers raised funds through fan donations and a 70-mile hike across Northern England. This trek, which stretched from Durham to the Holy Island, served both as a tribute to Morrowind and a charitable effort. Stickers were placed along the route to mark their journey, and proceeds were split between the film and the Bradley Lowery Foundation, a charity supporting children with terminal illnesses.

Despite operating on a modest budget, the production boasts impressive costumes, visual effects, and performances. Reddit user u/booboy92, involved in the project, emphasized the team’s commitment:

A huge amount of time, effort, and money has gone into creating this vision… there is a high level of quality in its costumes, VFX, cinematography, and acting.”

Now entering post-production, The Sleeper promises to be more than just a fan film- it’s a heartfelt homage to one of gaming’s most atmospheric worlds. Longtime Elder Scrolls fan or a movie lover who appreciates filmmaking, this project is worth keeping an eye on.

As someone who has been writing Elder Scrolls content for a while now, I cannot wait for the update of Morrowind and how the story can unfold with many new changes for players all over the world. As for The Sleeper, I want to see what this film has in store for all gamers who wish to see their game being represented.
