Destiny 2 Heat Weapons

Bungie Announces New Destiny 2 Archetype

Last week Tuesday, Bungie revealed new weapons and gear coming with Destiny 2: Renegades. In the recent TWID, Bungie went into further detail on what to expect from the weapons and gear. Five of the Legendary weapons are Heat Weapons, a new archetype. Instead of having ammo, it will overheat with each shot. If you have played Orisa in Overwatch, you should feel right at home.

Destiny 2 Heat Weapons

Heat Weapons will not have magazines. They will fire ammo from reserves, generating heat on each shot. You can manually reload them to dissipate the heat. Overheating the weapons will cause an extended downtime. Primary ammo Heat Weapons will deal increased damage to powerful combatants.

Each Heat Weapon will have three new stats:

  • Heat Generated: Heat generation per shot
  • Cooling Efficiency – Cooldown speed when inactive
  • Vent Speed – Speed of heat reduction when manually reloaded or overheated

Heat Weapons will fit into two categories:

  • Dynamic
    • Higher Base Damage
    • Higher Heat Generation
    • Faster Cooldown between shots
  • Balanced
    • Lower Heat Generation
    • Manually reloading at high heat increases the speed of venting

The five new Heat Weapons are:

  • Modified B-7 Pistol
    • Stasis Dynamic Heat Hand Cannon
  • All or Nothing
    • Strand Dynamic Heat Pulse Rifle
  • M-17 Fast Talker
    • Stasis Balanced Heat Submachine Gun
  • Compact Defender
    • Void Dynamic Heat Sidearm
  • Uncivil Discourse

Three Further Weapons

Three other weapons are confirmed for the release of Destiny 2: Renegades. One is the first Heavy Sniper Rifle released since Whisper of the Worm. The other two are Exotics.

  • Refurbished A499
    • Kinetic Disruption Heavy Ammo Sniper Rifle
      • Disruption weapons fire a single heavy-hitting round that disintegrates targets on impact.
  • Praxic Blade
    • Kinetic Special Ammo Sword
  • Heirloom
    • Solar Special Ammo Crossbow (the first of its kind)

Call to Arms

Call to Arms begins next week with Devirm Kay. During this event, players can attune to event weapons. You will also have the chance to receive Lawless Vouchers, which contain a random assortment of new Renegades gear and other items. Players can compete against other guardians to receive exclusive rewards.

Autocompleted Seasonal Challenge

The Superfluous Seasonal Challenge has been autocompleted for Destiny 2 players. The challenge required you to defeat 25 Guardians in the Clash playlist with Super abilities. The playlist is currently unavailable, which means it will be impossible to complete.
