Destiny 2 Edge of Fate/ Desert Perpetual

Bungie Gives Pivotal Destiny 2 Update for Call to Arms Event

The Call to Arms event dropped in Destiny 2 a couple of days ago. Since then, the community feedback has been divided. While many have enjoyed the concept, there was one glaring issue. To reach maximum points for the activities, players had to be at 550 power. This fact had prevented the majority of the community from ever achieving the exclusive rewards. Bungie has posted on X to address this issue, among other problems in the Call to Arms event.

Bungie’s X Statement Brings Change

Bungie has deployed a live update to address some of the pain points in Call to Arms:

  • Salt Mines will have Taken Combatants for the entire event
    • Maintains a consistent experience
  • Removed Cutting Edge in all Crucible Modes
  • Zone Control Mode correctly records higher scores after the first.
  • Iron Banner quest Testament of Strength no longer overrides the Call to Arms event quest.

Bungie has also addressed other changes that will come in a future live update:

  • Remove Power Multipliers as a scoring factor for PvE and PvP.
    • Players at 500 power will earn identical scores as 550 if the execution is the same.
  • Boons will not impact scoring.
  • Gear player stakes will add five green triangles in Call to Arms activities.

Two other aspects that Bungie is looking to fix are:

  • Increasing Revive Tokens in The Coil
  • Attending to a bug that causes enemies to remain immune after destroying all the drones.

Thoughts

Cutting Edge in PvP felt too limiting for players. Not having the option to use your favorite Exotic or Legendary felt awful. Especially for PvE players coming into PvP, most do not have the best weapons for the mode. The removal of the Power Multiplier helps those wanting to chase the exclusive. However, it still limits who can access them. 500 power is a mountain to climb, and given that many players have taken a break from the game, they are far away. A Power grind should not be the limiting factor behind players getting access to exclusive rewards like cosmetics.
