Where Winds Meet File Size and Preload Guide
Where Winds Meet is a free-to-play action RPG that was officially released on November 14 for PC and PS5. Preloading was available on November 12, and the game has three versions for PC gamers: Lite, Standard and Ultimate.
How Much Storage Will Players Need?
Developer EverStone Studios recommends that PC players looking to play the Wuxia-inspired RPG install the game on a Solid-State Drive rather than a Hard Disk Drive for an optimal experience. The game’s Lite version is 68 GB; the Standard version is 100 GB; and the Ultimate version requires at least 120 GB of space. Where Winds Meet on PS5 requires 108 GB of storage, and there’s currently only one version to download.
What is Wuxia?

Wuxia is a Chinese genre of fiction heavy on martial arts and can often focus on themes of honor, revenge or tragedy. The protagonists are bound to their own moral code and often serve as the story’s underdogs.
Wuxia fiction is often set during the Three Kingdoms period in Chinese history. Think about the Dynasty Warriors games, for example. The fluid, and often physics-defying, martial arts moves emphasize the genre’s superhuman aspects. The movie Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon comes to mind, and a more recent example of Wuxia fiction is Disney’s live-action adaptation of Mulan.
Where Winds Meet is set in China’s Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period, which was around the 10th Century. According to PC Gamer, the game had over 10 million pre-registered players.
The Game’s Reception
So far, Where Winds Meet has mixed reviews. IGN rated the game a 6 out of 10, stating that while the game understands what makes Wuxia compelling, its ambitiousness leads to elements in the game that aren’t able to reach their full potential. Metacritic says that the game has mixed or average reviews from both players and game reviews, ranking the game at 73.
If you’re into historical fiction set in China, and don’t want a musou game, try Where Winds Meet today. Open world RPGs seem to be all the rage, but this game’s potential makes it stand out among the rest.
