Promise Mascot Agency: Drive Through an Odd Japanese Town

Promise Mascot Agency is a game developed and published by Kaizen Game Works. The game came out April 10, 2025 for all major platforms. In this game, players take on the role of Michi, a disgraced yakuza lieutenant who loses his pinky from a money exchange gone wrong. Michi must fake his death and go to the cursed town of Kaso-Machi so he can earn back the 12 billion yen lost in the exchange.

Some Info about The Game

The start of the game is under a time limit. Michi must send 1 million yen through the town’s ATMs so rival yakuza gangs don’t kill Matriarch Shimazu. The 1 million yen milestone can be reached by prioritizing paying off the debt then focusing on mascot bonuses and town upgrades. Failure to send the 1 million yen leads to the death of Matriarch Shimazu and Michi, leading to a game over.

Michi earns back the money by hiring mascots at a love hotel that converted into a mascot agency. Pinky, a sentient pinky finger mascot, is the agency’s legal owner. The mascots are sent around town to represent various companies. The catch of these livestreamed town events is that things can, and will, go wrong. Part of the game’s mechanics is collecting and upgrading carts, so you’ll have enough points to fix an incident.

Who’s in the Game?

Some of the mascots Michi and Pinky recruit are To-Fu, a crying block of tofu; Kofun, a green mascot researching Kaso-Machi’s history; Trororo, a pink cat covered in yam; Ichigo Love, a strawberry bear; Oh and Tosu, sentient blocks; Raijin and Fujin, twin gods; and Salary-Nyan, a cat/salaryman. Progressing through the story unlocks more mascots for support company events.

In Promise Mascot Agency, players drive around town and collect lost items while paying for the town’s upgrades. The NPCs Michi and Pinky assist include a bar owner in a BDSM outfit, a kappa who loves the shoot ‘em up genre of arcade games, a black high school teacher and a business owner always on the phone with his wife.

What’s Cool about Promise Mascot Agency

The game’s charm is learning about Kaso-Machi’s history as a once prosperous town that has fallen on hard times due to a corrupt mayor. Pinky informs Michi of the town’s past, as she wants to see the town improve. The game’s graphics emphasize the town’s neglected status.

You can upgrade Michi’s truck by helping out the NPCs in town. In August, Kaizen Game Works released the Prepare to Grind Update, which added quality-of-life improvements to the game as well as added cosmetics for Pinky, difficulty modes, the ability to grind on rails and train tracks and Time Trials.

Players into the absurdity of the Yakuza series or Grand Theft Auto series will enjoy Promise Mascot Agency. The game also has a physical edition via Lost In Cult, available for pre-order now.
