Overwatch 2’s Newest Hero Seeks Revenge
The reveal trailer of Overwatch 2’s newest hero was released today. Vendetta, otherwise known as ‘La Lupa,’ is a gladiator. Vendetta joins the Overwatch 2 roster with a point to prove. She must avenge the death of her father. Vendetta is the 45th hero added to the Blizzard game. Her role within the game is yet to be announced, but she will be wielding a sword in combat.
Overwatch 2 Vendetta Backstory
Vendetta grew up being nurtured by her father. He taught her everything she knows, and his words still ring in her head to this day. Unfortunately for Vendetta, her father was murdered. Antonio was a major player in the Talon Empire. Antonio died in the Retribution story mission for Overwatch at the hands of Blackwatch. Reaper delivered the final blow. Vendetta seeks revenge for her fallen father, and she will do whatever it takes to enact it.
Vendetta’s Role
The developer team is remaining quiet on Vendetta’s role within Overwatch, at least for the time being. The community is speculating that she will either be a Tank or a DPS hero. If she is a DPS, she will become the first within the role to be melee-centric.
Vendetta Release Date and Hero Trial
Vendetta’s official release date is Tuesday, December 9th, with the beginning of Season 20. However, players will have a chance to try out the new hero before Season 20. The Hero Trial for Vendetta begins on November 26th. Players will have until December 1st to test out the 45th Overwatch 2 hero.
Final Thoughts
Without her kit or abilities, it is impossible to say how she will fit into the Overwatch 2 roster. However, her appearance and backstory are incredible. With the team already hinting at a better focus on story, it can begin exceptionally well with Vendetta. The potential story webs for her character are tremendous. Overwatch’s in-game interactions have always been superb. She will have plenty to say to the former Blackwatch members.
