Worlds 2025: FlyQuest’s Success Crumbled Before Our Eyes
FlyQuest came into Worlds as the Western hope. They left almost as a disgrace to North America. They were heralded as the best non-LPL or LCK team. Losses to G2 Esports and CTBC Flying Oyster sent them crashing down. The roster had internal issues, and those were evident in the post-match interviews. The downfall has already sent waves throughout North America, with Bwipo, Inspired, and Busio leaving.
Worlds 2025: FlyQuest Player Review
Bwipo
Total Apex rating – 5.3 (14th among top laners, tied 61st among players)
Champions Played
- K’Sante (2)
- Mordekaiser (2)
- Sion (2)
- Renekton
- Rumble
Bwipo had a decent start to Worlds. He was the one shining light against T1, keeping FLY relevant. He performed well against Vivo Keyd Stars and Team Secret Whales. However, the wheels started coming off against G2 and CFO. His Rumble in the G2 series was one to forget, as he often died for no reason. No one will forget the teleport to the top-tier two-tower against the CFO.
Inspired
Total Apex rating – 6.0 (tied 9th among junglers, tied 38th among players)
Champions Played
- Wukong (3)
- Jarvan IV
- Qiyana
- Sejuani
- Vi
- Xin Zhao
Inspired’s game against T1 is one he would like to forget. He had no impact on Jarvan IV throughout the match as FLY bled out. He would steady the ship for the rest of the Worlds, but did not look as dominant as we had seen from him. He tried to keep FLY alive in the final game against CFO, but the rest of his team had fallen too far behind.
Quad
Total Apex rating – 5.6 (12th among mid laners, tied 52nd among players)
Champions Played
- Annie (2)
- Azir (2)
- Taliyah (2)
- Ryze
- Viktor
Heading into Worlds, Quad was the liability on the FLY roster. At the tournament, he was not as problematic for his team. He was not the carry player that they needed with the rest of the team crumbling. Giving him Annie twice also felt strange, given FLY struggled with the champion throughout the year. His most forgettable moment came in game one against CFO. He ulted into the enemy team and died, giving CFO an advantage.
Massu
Total Apex rating – 5.4 (12th among bot laners, tied 55th among players)
Champions Played
- Corki (2)
- Jhin (2)
- Lucian (2)
- Kai’Sa
- Yunara
The drafting decisions of FLY often diminished Massu’s impact. Having him play a champion like Jhin was not the style we have seen his best performances. Everyone will remember his incredible Kai’Sa mechanics against GenG Esports last year, which almost caused an upset. Massu’s confidence had evaporated, and that was evident in his gameplay.
Busio
Total Apex rating – 5.9 (tied 6th among supports, tied 44th among players)
Champions Played
- Alistar (4)
- Nami
- Nautilus
- Neeko
- Soraka
Busio is another player who lacked confidence at this Worlds. Internal issues had gotten to him in some way or another. He was good against VKS and TSW, but failed to make an impact in the Best-of-3 series. A lack of cohesion will often cause supports to look worse than they are.
FlyQuest Team Review
Many of the issues for FLY were team-related. Between drafts and overall cohesion, they faltered. FLY for their standards had an open path to the Bracket Stage. They could have beaten G2 and CFO if they were at full strength. We will likely never know what caused the internal problems behind the scenes. With only Quad and Massu staying for 2026, the team will look different.
